rich in socal Posted March 2, 2007 Author Posted March 2, 2007 thanks guys. askin' away ---> here are a few Q's: (sorry some may seem very lame & my terms way be wack... sorry pls bear w/ me). 1) are there any big money tourneys where anglers fish alone for part of the day? seems i remember old shots of guys like Ricky Clunn fishin' solo in the Classic back in the 80's & 90's , etc... wanted to know if that is still the case b/c i notice on most clips from this years Classic w/ camera guys riding along w/ alot of the anglers. (is this for part of the day?). 2) is there any regular drug testing? i know rules state no alcohol/mind altering substances on the lake, etc... but i was curious if pee testing ever comes in to play? 3) are there any known terms for old school guys & the newer generation of anglers? any negative terms used by either? 4) can cellphones be used out on the lake (during a tourney) IF for personal family reasons? (i.e.: wife calls b/c the baby's choking, etc.). 5) morning of tounaments, is there ever a starter's pistol? do the boats always leave the marina in "flights/heats"? Do they every leave all together @ once? that's all for now.... more sure to come. again THANK YOU for all feedback. Quote
eastkybass Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Welcome to the site. The only two I know is the first one and fourth one. There is always some kind of observer in the boat that sends the info in during the classic. Most of the other tournaments there is a co angler in the boat with them. It is a way to police the sport and to keep the anglers honest. In Ikes book he mentions having ot use his cell on a number of occasions while out on the boat and most of the guys who they have talked to that were at a tournament when there wife was about to give birth carried the phone around plus said that the wife had another # were they could be reached so I am guessing that the majority have them at all times. Super User Catt Posted March 3, 2007 Super User Posted March 3, 2007 Well jump right on in there 1: During a 3 day tournament the pros have an amateur in the boat for the first 2 days but on the final day he can be alone or with a camera man. 2: There is random drug testing and polygraph tests for the winners 3: hundreds 4: Cell phones can be carried for emergencies 5: Anglers leave single file, usually 3 minutes apart after receiving assigned numbers. Shot gun starts are outlawed due to extreme danger evolved Quote

rich in socal Posted March 5, 2007 Author Posted March 5, 2007 thanks for the great responses & warm welcome guys. this is very helpful as i am trying to see if there would be anyway a (bad guy in film) would be able to actually cheat during a tournament. the idea is a bit of a suspense/thriller. anyone w/ any further input would be more than welcome tia fwiw: i have found all my old fishing gear from ages ago & most of my plastics & spinnerbaits are in great shape... amazing!. even some of the plugs i looked @ scarred from hits remind me of past trips to our san diego lakes. gotta' love it. are boron rods still used? not seeing too many? i loved 'em esp. for wormin'. five fenwick boron x rods & my old ambassador royal reels. tunin' all up & getting ready to go out. d**n my thumb is rusty. Quote
