I am looking for a pair of reliable polarized glasses that do not cost an arm or a leg. I recently had some glasses from BPS. They were Bill Dance, but they were so tinted that i would trip over things when fishing. I have looked at Wiley X but those things are expensive as well as the company that Mike Iaconelli wears.

Any ideas?

I have a pair of Style Science from Bass Pro. I have had them for about a year and they have been very good glasses. I prefer the amber lenses. I think they were somewhere around $20.

Good polarized glasses are not going to be cheap.  Amber lenses are usually the best in the sunlight on the water.

you are going to pay for good quality sunglasses man.. go check sierra trading post. they have good deals sometimes

I second Sierra Trading post, I got a nice pair of Costa del mar's the one that came with interchangeable lenses (amber, grey, and yellow, all polarized) for about $62.

I love em

Here is a simple solution.  Buy a Abu Garcia Revo Skeet Reese, or Toro, or Winch, or STX, or SX and you get a pair of Wiley X sunglasses for only shipping cost ($6.95).  Therefore, you can say you only spent $6.95 on a pair of polarized sunglasses and end up with a bad @$$ reel as well.

You do not need to spend a huge amount of money on good sunglasses. There are only 3 things that are a must - 1) 100% UVA/B resistant, 2) polarized, 3) optically perfect lenses. Everything else is optional and preference. As long as the glasses have these three characteristics, they will be good glasses.

Plastic lenses will be cheapest, polycarbonate mid priced, and glass lenses most expensive. The more you spend, the better the components (generally) and the longer they will last (normal wear). However, I tend to lose or break glasses within a few years of buying them, so I don't need glasses that will last 15 years. I need glasses that will last a few season and meet the above three requirements.

I've settled on a company called Gill. I have a pair of their glasses. They cost me about $60. They look good, meet all my requirements. I suspect I'll lose or break them log before they wear out. I recommend them highly.

Simple.  Get a second pair when you get your glasses.  Polarized lenses and tinted to your specs.  Oh yeah, they are going to be expensive or can be that way.  I have been wearing polarized tri-focals for years.

Only 1 set of eyes per customer and I like being able to see.

You get what you pay for....for the most part.  There are undoubtedly "good" polarized glasses you can find out there for lower prices, but i personally love my vision through my costa del mar's.  they'll set you back a few bucks....especially if you get the 580 lenses, but once you try a pair on you will see the difference....(don't know if you have a RX or not but i do, and i was able to get my costa's with my RX and they are wonderful, but then again that will set you back many more $$!!)

This is a good thread you guys have started here. I'm going on a Muskie trip with a couple buddies this fall and the guide recommends that we bring polarized glasses. I bought a pair of cheap Strike King one's and can already see the difference on the water. May look into a nicer pair before the trip though.

Grey lens are best for bright sunny conditions

Amber lens are best all around, terrific in overcast conditions, excellent contrast

Vermillion lens favorite for sight fishing, low light conditions and muddy water

Yellow lens superb in low light conditions and heavy overcast skies

Strike King offers a variety of styles of quality sunglasses at reasonable prices :)

I also have a pair of Strike king polarized sunglasses. I don't know about the more expensive brands, but for 20 bucks I could not believe how much better I could see "into" the water. Rocks and such that I had not been able to see before.

I've got a pair of Costa Del Mar glasses.  Good stuff right there.  The ones I have are somewhere down on the cheaper side of their line.  My mother spent some ridiculous amount of cash for her Costas, but I can say that they are worth the money.  Good glasses.

I will have to second to Costa Del Mar. Got some for at the beginning of this year. You can really tell the difference.

I picked up some angler eyes sunglasses at llbean last year and they work pretty well. Not sure if they sell them at llbean anymore, they were about $20-$30. but they do have their own website
