Cecil Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 My family and I recently moved into a house on a fresh water canal that runs about a mile, with a small pond / lake about half way. We have been catching lots of little ones under 2lbs, with bigger ones 4-6lbs pretty consistently (with a couple larger gals). The bait of choice has been watermelon red worms, 8" tricks on a Texas rig. I've been putting the neighborhood kids and my buddies (and momma) on a few nice ones. Here are a few of the fish we have landed recently, enjoy. This was the first fish Anias ever caught Here's a few I've caught so far this year Big Clint scared'm into the boat Cody landed this and a handful of others to out fish me on my own canal ;-) Daryl caught this little fella right before dinner Momma has been out fishing the boys :-) Momma went from the pool to the boat to land this little guy Sunday :-) Jason landed this one after helping me with the dog kennel Quote
hookingem Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Awesome! I know its awesome to be able to walk out the back door and be able to stick a nice bass! Quote
J. M. Richardson Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 That's a good size bass for the fella's first fish. I think my first bass was only about 10 inches long (and I caught it while trying to catch gills). Quote
bass or bass ? Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 That's awesome! When I was a teenager my Grandparent's house was on Cypress Creek, brackish creek/canal in Ft. Lauderdale. The fresh water lock was @ a mile upstream from their house. I caught largrmouth, snook, even jack crevelle from the bridge next to their house. Great memories. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted March 29, 2011 Super User Posted March 29, 2011 Now that's what I call prime property !!!!!!!! Quote
flippin and pitchin Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Thats fantastic. Thanks for sharing the pics. The kids are loving it. So are the children. Also, to make the fish appear larger, hold them out and not up. That's what works for me. Quote
