Dwight's on a roll. Seventy two percent is going to be hard to beat. I don't want to say game over, but he's making it pretty tough. I just calculated 73 percent of the Missouri largemouth (13 lb 14 oz)and smallmouth (7 lbs 2 oz) records and I need to catch a 10 lb 2 oz largemouth or a 5 lb 2 oz smallmouth to pass him.

Try having to hit 15 1/2 lbs for a 73 percent score. Caught an 8.2 the other day and it wouldn't have even put me over 40 percent.

I'm on the Board - This sweet smallie lunched a 3/8 oz hand tied jig (thanks Flukemaster)

Here's her score ~ 4.75/9.25 x 100 = 51.35

I'm happy but like everyone, I'm hoping to up grade.

Of course, Dwight has taken the "Up Grading" concept to a whole new level . . .

Nice fish A-Jay! Now all you have to do is to add a pound and change, and you've got a whole month to do it.

Thanks - a whole pound huh ? I don't know if that's a good thing or not.

The PA state record smb is a bit smaller than the MI fish, so percentage wise we would have to find, hook and some how land that wild monster smallie that haunts your dreams every night . . .

Either way, I'm heading out again right now. Did I mention I really Love this retirement gig . . . .

btw- the wife says you should come up here and puppy sit so she can go fishin' . . . :)

It is likely I will have just as difficult a time reaching 10 lb 2 oz as you will reaching 15 1/2 lbs. They are both 73 percent of the size of our state's biggest fish. If Dwight can do it, we can. Never say never! :D

I know that big smallmouth lives in Cadillac/Mitchell and it is now haunting not only my dreams but my wallet as the trip is going to cost me $80+ in truck fuel for each trip. I'm pretty sure that a few west coast lakes like Portage, Pentwater, or White Lake also holds a few brutes that could get up close to 70%.

I wish I could get out today, but I've got a bunch of work to get ready for the big Mother's Day cookout. Starting Monday though, I'm gonna try to get out every day.

And I'd gladly come up to spend some time with the pack, if you guys can handle the spoiled brats I'm going to leave you with. My motto is "Have Milkbone - Will Travel"!!! B)

I'm on the board. A little over 5 lbs. I would do the math, but what's the point. She would have to be 3 times that size to challenge Dwight.

Lee, all you and I need is 12-lb 9-oz, but those last few ounces are going to be Killer :others-142:

Roger, I have only seen 2 fish caught over 12 in the last5 years. They are here, but not many of them. I love catching the 5ves though. She inhaled a frog in the light rain today. I was only about 50ft from the ramp with legoland in the background.

Right you are, and therein lies the joke

I never fish Summit but always head straight for the canal to Eloise.

Maybe I should rethink that strategy. You're certainly deadly with the frog,

even in that vodka-clear water :thumbsup3:

Here is a new update from today 5/12/11. Caught this sweetie on a jerk bait. My first fish of the day. She was 22.5 " X 16" girth. She weighed 6lbs-7oz. That's 6.4375 divided by 8.50 the PA state record X100 equals 75.74.

FLAG!!!!!!!!!!!

Unsportsmanlike conduct. Rubbing our pathetic abilities in our face. 15 point penalty and loss of down.

Dwight's current score is now 60.74. :D

So does this mean Dwight has 1st,2nd,and 3rd place right now? Unreal, so I only have to catch an 8+lb largemouth, which I've never caught in the state of Kansas before? No problem. Dwight, you are the master. :Copy_of_icon_thumright:

Keep giving it to 'em Dwight. It's obvious that you are making the most of a great resource around Erie. When you combine good fish and a great stick, you get these results! Keep it up! B)

Nice fish everyone!!!

Finally got something worth posting. Got this prespawn girl last weekend on a t-rigged flappin hog. I was a little late for work that morning but it was worth it :D She weighed in at 6.9# on my scale. It was in Iowa where the record is 10.75 (don't laugh southern boys! haha).

6.9/10.75 X 100 = 64.19.

RULES

1. This is for FUN...

2. Any Black Bass species with a state record is eligible. You must have submitted your entry prior to midnight March 14, 2011.

3. This contest runs from daybreak on March 15th, 2011 to sunset on June 12, 2011.

4. Artificial bait ONLY. If you are sight fishing, the fish must be hooked inside the mouth. All fish must be caught in PUBLIC fishing areas. No private stocked ponds (you own the pond and are raising trophies).

5. Scoring of the fish shall be completed as follows:

Example

FW = fish weight = 10.5 lbs (my pb)

SR = state record Fl = 17.27 lbs

FW / SR x 100 = your score

10.5/17.27x100 = 60.80 rounded to 2 decimals

In order for your fish to count, you must submit a picture, the state record weight for the state the fish was caught in, and an accurate weight of the fish. You can submit fish caught in different States but only your highest score counts. Your fish must be submitted within one week of being caught. (No sandbagging) You may submit as many fish as you want as long as subsequently caught fish score higher. All fish must be submitted before 7 am on June 13th, 2011.

6. You can be disqualified for unsportsmanlike behavior. The definition of "unsportsmanlike" is completely at the discretion of myself and the moderators.

7. Entry Fee - You must post your intention to play on this thread prior to midnight March 14th.

Directors Note-----Have fun, catch fish, and post your results......

Dang A-Jay, don't scare me!

I saw you bring this up and was sure you were showing off some Big Ol'Hawg.

Maybe you can file for an extension seeing as how you were truckless over the last weekend! B)

I wish I could back up a brash and bold statement like

"I don't need no stinking extension" -

but the truth is there is not enough time in this Season to top the Behemoths post up by that stick over in Erie, PA -

Agghhhh

I've been catching them, but nothing over 5lbs. With a state record of over 17lbs.. oh well. I'm still fishing, who knows. :D

Some very nice fish being posted. Congrats to all.
