brettpUNCW Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on their favorite way to peg. I recently saw Tim Horton using a rubber peg...anyone ever try em, and if so which ones u like? Quote
trav Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 The rubber stops are great, I believe the ones I've been using are made by True Tungsten. They do a great job of keeping the sinker down on the bait, and you can easily pull them up on the line if you need to adjust them. They're more expensive then toothpicks, but worth it. This is also a great way to peg them: Quote
CatBassin Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 I use the small bobber stop beads. I put my line through then put my line back through the same direction so that is wrapped once around the bead. It slides up the line real easy for any retying and I can also slide it up a little so that it has a little moving room if I want. I use braided line so I don't know how well it would work on mono on fluoro. Quote

Super User iceintheveins Posted April 9, 2009 Super User Posted April 9, 2009 I also like the screw in sinkers. Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted April 9, 2009 Super User Posted April 9, 2009 If you got money to frivoulsly spend on things or sponsors paying for it, then ya, the TT stops are okay. Don't believe all the myths about toothpicks. They work just fine. Quote

I'll have to check that out.I know that the regular string and rubber bobber stops don't work worth a dam on braid, especially small diameter. Quote
Beamer2 Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_44440____SearchResults Try these. The cheapest and best way, IMHO. They work with any type and size line. Very easy to use and never come off. I just use a black sharpie on the colored ones. Quote

I tried the whole sharpie thing and well, lets just say it doesn't work very well! A few casts later the ink is gone and the smell is still there. Quote

Super User iceintheveins Posted April 9, 2009 Super User Posted April 9, 2009 These two products are BY FAR the best way to go: http://parasiteweights.com/ (parasite weights) http://www.picassooutdoors.com/cart.php?target=product&product_id=62&category_id=10 (marty stone lockdown sinkers) Quote

Nick B Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 I tie a rubber band around my line and push the weight over it, it keeps the weight pegged and will break away if needed to fight a fish its cheap and easy Quote

Also, I can't remember a time that I've had my line break due to a toothpick nicking it. Quote
