Bassnajr Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 OK, Other than a few ice bergs floating around my local pond...THE ICE IS OUT!! So I decide today to tie on a lure and head to the dam at the pond for a few casts. Windy, still cold, but who cares..right? After about 45 minutes I was invigorated with the knowledge that Spring is here. I begin to walk back to my truck when I see something glittering in the sun. It's an H2O jerk bait I broke off last fall on an underwater tree. It was 3 feet from the waters edge and had been thrown up by waves from a bad storm we had last week. "Wow!" I thought. I walked another 100 yards and I see something orange in the grass near the dam wall. It was a Luckycraft RC 1.5 that I also lost end of the summer...early fall! Had only one eye, so I know it was mine. Unbelievable!!! I am hoping this is a good *** for the upcoming season! What do you folks think? PS Now If I can only find that $20.00 Jackall Deka Hamakaru I lost there last summer!! Quote
AndyPlaysDrums Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 That's awesome! At my local pond, I'd like to find a floating pickerel with a brand new Red Eye Shad that busted off just before I got my hands on it. > Quote
VABassin'14 Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 Nice! A few years ago I lost a topwater lure at a local pond. This particular lure just happened to be the first artificial lure I had ever purchased and the lure that I have caught more fish off of than any other lure. Needless to sat I has really unhappy when i lost it. A couple of month later my buddy found it floating up against the bank and put it in his tackle box. When I saw it in there I nearly peed my pants with excitement. But I had to trade another one of my favorite lures to him to get it back. I still to this day have that lure in my tackle box and probably never will use it again. Quote

Super User Sam Posted March 13, 2011 Super User Posted March 13, 2011 Outstanding!!! Happened to me at a pond when a big lady took by favorite Bandit 100 in May. I found it on the pond's bank in November. Those are lucky lures so clean them up and start throwing them again. Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted March 14, 2011 Super User Posted March 14, 2011 Those are definitely good omens for fishing. Good luck! 8-) Quote

Seems pretty messed up I know but he has been my best friend since the third grade and always will be. I don't think he really was going to make me give him one in exchange, but at the time I didn't care about any other lure besides the one I had lost. Now that i go back and think about it, he was kind of surprised when I gave him one in returned. Quote
njbasstracker Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Every winter when the lakes freeze i go out on the ice and clean the trees. This year i got two jerk baits one spinner bait a buzz bait and a bluefox spinner. Thats the only good thing about winter Quote

I find a lot of lures in and around rock-piles, as a side benefit it keeps them away from dogs. They seem drawn to the scented ones. Quote
vaparrothead Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 I was walking to my fishing hole and in a bush about 50-60 feet from the water I found a crankbait; still in good shape. From the water to the bush there were thick woods. Still haven't figured out how that lure got there but glad it did. Quote

hookingem Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Who cares about the odds its pretty freaking awesome! I saw a guy once at a pond I fish With a big deep sea style rod with thick braid pulling up this netting thats in the pond. He must have gotten 35-40 lures. Quote
laus Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Hey friend of mine pulled up a fancy St. Croix rod with a nice Abu Garcia baitcast reel last year. Totally great luck, karma, etc. He used it all summer and never had better fishing. I NEVER underestimate luck or confidence Quote
K.Fox Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 Hey Laus that St.croix rod didn't happen to come out of Lake Champlain did it? LOL, lost mine in there... Quote
GrundleLove Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Its my post winter tradition to collect all the lures i lost to the various trees around these dinky ponds i fish. So far I have got back 3 out of the 4 i lost this year. The snow always breaks or bends the branches so its easy to get. Put on some new trebles and im good to go Quote

USMCAngler89 Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 A few weeks ago i found a lure laying in some weeds about 2 ft off shore, it just happened to be a rapala jointed blue bleeding shad, i gave it a try and within a 1 hour times span brought in 5 hybrid bass the smallest being 14inches, unfortunately it got snagged on a sunken tree and i lost it but i definetly went and replaced it. backpain... Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 When I was a teenager we were shiner fishing on a dock in a private lake when my fathers favorite combo went sailing off skipping like a rock into the water. Later that day I saw his float surface in the middle of the lake and I went after it. Ended up finding his rod on one end and a 12lb catfish on the other end with three hooks in its mouth from earlier breakoffs! Quote
