FishingPirate Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 I know everyone like to catch fish regardless of how they do it but which of these do you like more: -Catchin a lot of fish on one bait. -Catching a lot of fish on a few similar baits.(popper, spook, prop bait) -Catching a lotta fish on a handful of diverse bait(jig, topwater, crank, etc) Just wondering fellas. Me personally, I like the feeling that I kicked some butt in more than one situation. EX: Catching a few in the AM on topwater, picking a few off a flat with a spinner, and pitchin a jig in brush for a few more. Quote
mase088 Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 While I do enjoy catching fish on different baits, I always seem to have a better time when I'm catching them on just one. Quote
adclem Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 I really enjoy catching them on just one bait, a buzz bait. Nothing gets your blood pumping better then a good top water strike out of nowhere. But I also don't mind catching them on a variety of different lures either. Later, Quote
Big Mike in Fl Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 I really enjoy catching on one particualr bait, when no one else on the lake is catching, that tells me that i'm tuned in well to the fish and situation. gives me more confidence in my fishing abilities. Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted April 10, 2009 Super User Posted April 10, 2009 I feel the same way... I really enjoy catching them on just one bait, a buzz bait. bdiggy Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Yeah, i'd have to say any way I can get them. If they're going for just one bait, then that's cool, and if it takes a variety, then so be it. I'd prefer to boat one after another on one bait though. Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted April 10, 2009 Super User Posted April 10, 2009 I like to catch bass on a variety of baits best. Topwater are my favorite though and I know most would say that too. Quote
Super User Catt Posted April 10, 2009 Super User Posted April 10, 2009 For me nothing beats that little subtle bite on Texas Rig but I'll take what ever is required to get bit. Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted April 10, 2009 Super User Posted April 10, 2009 I like to catch on multiple different baits and or techniques. Once I have figured out what kind of bite they are on,where they are at,and how aggressive, I will then even switch to something else on purpose after catching a few just to see what else I can fool em with.Sometimes I will just keep changing my method or retrieve. It is still like changing baits in a way.I am always looking into tweeking the presentation and getting dialed in as much as possible.I know it makes no sense to some, and I also don't fish tournaments either. In my thinking I am looking for what it will take to get the bigger one to bite.If I am working a spot and hammering a wolfpack i want to try to trigger that 3lb+ into biting.Of course If the bite is real slow and I catch a small few on one thing I will stick too one thing faithfully. Constanly changing can work either way in fishing, just like everything.Sometimes it is the best thing to,sometimes not.Only the fish know for sure. Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted April 10, 2009 Super User Posted April 10, 2009 I'd rather be proficient with several types of baits and techniques. Putting aside the "fun" thing, the object in fishing is to catch fish, as many and as big as possible. Some days topwaters do the trick, other days it may be jigs, swimbaits, spinnerbaits, etc. Other days they'll hit anything or nothing at all. To improve at anything necessitates doing it differently, and becoming more adaptable to changing conditions. Until this year, I'd never caught a bass on a jig. Never really gave them a fair chance. While I've got a lot to learn about them, I have a measure of confidence in my ability to use them. There's always something better. Gotta keep looking for it. Quote
shootermcbob Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 I just like catching them. I guess if I had to answer, it would be catching several on many different types of baits. Honestly, though, the most fish I have caught in one day is 6, 3 on spinnerbait, 1 on a 7" powerbait worm, and two on a crankbait. I guess on secondthought, I am not qualified to answer your question ;D Quote
