zbigbadaaron Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 My favorite lipless cranks are strike king red eye shad, rat l trap, and rapala rattlin' rap. And I fish them with a yo-yo retrieve. I made this thread so I can see your guys favorite kinds to expand my tackle box, and see your favorite tricks. Quote
riverfisher Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 I toss nothin but cotton cordell spot's Blue and chrome or black and chrome. There cheap and if a big pike bites it off it dosient get me in a bad mood. Caught this bad boy yesterday on a spot. First LMB of the season!! Quote
fivesixone Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 My favorite right now has gotta be the Xcalibur Xr50, after a few suggestions from the guys here! Foxy Shad and Foxy Mama have been producing very well for me. I've also been trying out the Xrk50 one knocker, but with a little less success. Cordell Spot's are excellent if you're lookin' for something cheap. Quote
DINK WHISPERER Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 My all time favorite is the Bill Lewis Rat-L-Trap. I also have some Cotten Cordells i use. Quote
aarogb Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 I agree with you Aaron I also like the Rattlin Rapala's, Red Eye Shads, and Bill Lewis Rattle Traps. Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted April 5, 2009 Super User Posted April 5, 2009 My three most productive are: 1-XCalibur Xr50 2-Strike King Red Eye Shad 3-Rattlin Rapalas In that order. Falcon Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted April 5, 2009 Super User Posted April 5, 2009 I've been a Rattle trap fan for a very long time. Last season I had some good fish on XCalibur's One Knocker. And this year I am Really looking forward to fishing the The Flatt Shad 77 SU from Sebile. It weighs 1/2 oz and has an almost neutral buoyancy. It suspends about 2-3 feet under the surface. It really will not sink or dive much deeper than that. The 77 SU is the only Flatt Shad model designed for fishing over submerged weedbeds and through the tops of brush. Although I haven't fished it yet, working it through shallow brush or shallow grass cover could be good. It will not sink or dive too deep, and you can stop reeling to suspend it motionless right in front of a fish's face - - - That just sounds too Good ! A-Jay Quote
BassRaider27 Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 Mine is the spro aruka shad jr. Mud bug in the spring Perch during the spawn and chrome with black back anytime eles, i just throw them out a reel in unless during the spawn, since they always fall on their nose it looks like a feeding bait fish so during the spawn i yo yo them Quote
hawgchaser Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 1. XR50 (Rayburn red, blue/chrome/orange belly, and foxy shad) 2. Red Eye Shad (east texas Special) The XR50 has produced the biggest fish by far. I love these baits. Quote
tritz18 Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 my new favorite is the red eye shad, caught alot of fish today Quote
KevO Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 Xcaliburs XRK75 and XRK50. followed by the XR50 and then the classic rat-l-trap. Quote
bugman Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 Bill leis r-trap & red eye shad also did well with a Yo-zuri in a white craw color late last summer. Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 I like a plain old SK Diamond Shad in chrome and blue. I also like the Lews Lipless Trap, but I change the soft hooks right away. For rattle trap style baits, I have found that cheaper works better. I have not gotten a single fish on the Lucky Craft one, the Yo Zuri one, Excalibur, and only a few on the Red Eye Shads... Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted April 8, 2009 Super User Posted April 8, 2009 Redeye shads and Xr50's Quote
revoman Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 + 2 on the Diamond shad - Don't need to try any others! Quote
bassman31783 Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Xr50 without a doubt. After getting out-fished by a my fishing buddy who had one tied on, I bought a couple and never looked back. Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted April 9, 2009 Super User Posted April 9, 2009 Bass Pro Shops XPS Rattle Shad and Cordell Super Spots. Rat L Traps are good too, but the rattle shads and super spots are better IMO. Rattlin' rapalas aren't that great in my opinion. Quote
basspimple Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 three fav's: Rattlin rap, loud spro aruku shad, louder rat. trap, loudest, these things rattle the boat! Quote
Primus Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Yozuri Rattlin' Vibe, StrikeKing Red Eye Shad & Jackall. Honorable mention would include Sebile Flatt Shad & old Excalibur/ Cordell Spot. I have a few that I plan on working out this year including the Yozuri Drum, Excalibur One Knocker and the Daiwa TD Vibration (Silent model). Quote
Big Tom Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 I want to like Excalibur's because I paid the most but nothing has produced for me as consistently as a Rattle Trap. Quote
