Rangerphil Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 Sitting here watching fishing shows is making me physical sick! I need to get out and do some fishing before I bust!! Quote
Rangerphil Posted March 5, 2011 Author Posted March 5, 2011 The title should be how much longer can I make it, iPad does it's own thing sometimes! Quote
CSimon2 Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 I am with you brother. A lot of the ponds in my area are all open now. I just have to get out there and fish. I volunteered to work today and was going to go out on my lunch break, but it is cold, windy and rainy. Quote
sage Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 I hear you , I think i'm going to ride up to Lake Arthur today and get a ice report. My boat is ready to go and so am I. Quote
Intrepid Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 i hear ya, im bout to hit up a small pond today in another hour or so before the rain comes in this evening. but the water is still pretty cold and the fish in there not that active, i just got to get out though. ill just take a few beers and a few baits i think might work and make the most of it... Luke at Gouldsboro Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 I'm going crazy to go fishing, but I just had ankle surgery and I wont be out of my cast for 3 more weeks, so I have no choice but to deal with it... the bait monkey bites me almost everyday... ordering online... Quote
hookingem Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 It was a long winter here in VA to, but it was worth the wait the bite is turning on! Quote
Scorcher214 Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 Ya, my canal (it has a current) has unthawed but the rest of the lakes are frozen around me. I just made an order from BPS that should come next week, so i will have lots of new goodies ;D! Should keep me on a tackle high till everything thaws out. Quote
royal0014 Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 Yep, got fish on the brain here. Might have to hit the bank soon, but it'll be toward the end of April before I can do the needed glass work on my boat and get it wet. <<)))(((>> Quote
Mr SwimJig Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Got to try out 2 new things today, new lift kit and tires on the jeep and the new rod and reel!! Great day!! The field I had to drive through to get to the pond was very wet and muddy and the fish were biting ever so slowly, but man what a great day! SJ Quote
princecraft papa Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 we just got another 20 inches of snow!!!!!! the ice on the lake is still 30 inches thick....I guess watching fishing shows & tieing flies is the closest I'll get fot another 6-8 weeks! Quote
1bigpapa Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 I'm right there with you. I have had cabin fever worse this year than in several years past. Our ice is all melted off the lakes/rivers but the water is still pretty cold. Have been out a few times but no bites yet. Never was very good at cold weather bassin' and would love to go with someone that is good at it! Anyway, had snow here tonight... couldn't believe it. Hopefully another few weeks and the water will start warming up enough. This is why I'm thinking of moving back to my home state of FL. Year round fishing sounds so good right now! ;D Quote

Wow! That's definitely a bummer. My lakes turned to liquid in the last week. I put line on all my rods this weekend and I'm ready to go. I hope to get my first day on the lake by next weekend. Quote
Super User Lund Explorer Posted March 7, 2011 Super User Posted March 7, 2011 It was -3* as the sun was coming up this morning, so I'm pretty sure we won't have soft water for awhile yet. Did a real fancy dance with the bait monkey a month or so ago, and even though there's still a few things I do need this year, I have lost the motivation for now. Fishing shows were sort of interesting this weekend as I caught some repeats of shows I had missed before. FLW's college tournament yesterday was sort of interesting. I also noticed that two or three of the hosts didn't bother wearing lifejackets while running during their shows. That list included the Lindner brothers, so it must be those Lund boats are safe enough that you don't need to wear one...... Not! Quote

Maybe they just don't have a lifejacket sponsor and its been so long since they paid for their own equipment, they forgot how. Quote

laus Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 So cool Clayton86. My dad took me out when I was beyond young memory.....I only remember a fish shooting out of water, face shaking, what joy I felt. Ever since fishing=happiness for me. Quote
chromedog Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 We got 17" of snow last night. UGH. At least trout opens up in 3 1/2 weeks. This time of year is always hard. Just gonna focus on the NCAA tourney and all that great basketball. GO ORANGE! Quote
