CAdeltaLipRipper Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 What pros or instructors did you guys get for your Bass Pro Spring Class seminars?I got some good local experts for the Delta like Bub Tosh and David Gliebe but again our store gets Pros I've never heard of lol Quote
Bass XL Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Got to meet Brent Chapman, who ended up placing 5th at the Classic. Super cool guy who talked about spring fishing some of the local lakes around here (He's from Kansas). Did manage to talk 1 on 1 with him about jig fishing, and learned that he doesn't believe in any alteration of your jig. That means, no weed guard trimming, and no skirt trimming. Also got to chat with Mr. Jimmy Houston and local pro Mike Webb. Great experience, but the place was just packed full of people. Quote

I've been fortunate enough to meet him and talk with him several times. He used to come into Cabela's in KC when I worked there since his home at Lake Quivira is about 10 minutes from there. I've also seen him out on Lake Quivira fishing a few times I've been out there. He really is just a normal guy living the dream. You can also talk archery deer hunting with him, I've target shot with him and he is almost as skilled with a bow as he is a jig rod. Quote
Getfished Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 I was over at the Olathe store last night and got acquainted with Mike Webb. He gave a good presentation on electronics. He is a local down on Table Rock and also a guide. I went there specifically so I could visit with him about his K.A.S.T program. I'm thinking I'm gonna get involved in that. It's a cool program. I'm going back over there Sunday afternoon to hear Brent Chapman. I want to talk to him about Tightlines. I fished around him in a few Heartland Tourneys and fo sho, he is a stick. Quote

It's nice to talk to a professional of Brent's caliber, and completley relate to them. He knows a ton about Lake of the Ozarks, Table Rock, and La Cynge (have always wanted to fish there), and just fishing techniques in the Midwest in general. Mike Webb is one heck of a guy. I was fortunate enough to fish with him a few years back on Table Rock. The guy is a master at catching fish while watching his graph, and he was the one that introduced me to the ever-so-famous Shakey Head. He actually had a special segment on the Tight Lines products, and I personally, was very very impressed. It kind of blew my mind in a way. It sounds like a gimmick, but you know, I think this could be something big in fishing. Definitely going to be getting some UV plastics very soon. Quote
Super User Hooligan Posted February 27, 2011 Super User Posted February 27, 2011 Gary Parsons (Whom is a super awesome guy, and a phenomenal angler) Jim Carroll (Know nothing about him other than he's a walleye guy) Both 'eye guys this year. Last year I think it was Jay Yelas and Woo Daves, or something like that. Can't remember. Quote
okiefisher8 Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Tommy Biffle was at the BPS in Oklahoma City yesterday and tomorrow Rick Clunn will be there. Biffle was a class act, and I am looking forward to hearing from and hopefully meeting Rick Clunn. Quote

I've been around him a couple times and I'd agree with you entirely. He's a super nice guy to talk to. He's GREAT with kids, which many pros are not. Denny Brauer comes to mind in dealing with kids; likely one of the best guys on the planet to have talking to youth about fishing. Quote
CAdeltaLipRipper Posted February 27, 2011 Author Posted February 27, 2011 Some pros you can just tell they're not comfortable talking to people, like i went to our friends house when he was having all his members of his bass club over and Dean Rojas and Ish Monroe were there. Both are nice, good guys.Ish is hilarious and very comfortable with people.I just noticed Dean didn't seem to comfy talking to everybody Quote
dday07 Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 we got only salt water anglers here in southern cal.(and they call it bassmaster university)but we did get delta guide Randy Pringle again who i enjoyed last year Quote
McAlpine Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Marty Stone and Edwin Evers. ;-) We got a good draw. Both were really nice guys and very informative. Only wish I could have had a chance to ask Marty how he was rigging his senko style worm to make it fall in a circular pattern while displaying his "flip shotting". Quote
Senkoman12 Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 a few years ago i met roland martin. my dad saw him wlaking down an isle and im just like holy $!@#* its roland martin. not to his face of course Quote
CAdeltaLipRipper Posted February 28, 2011 Author Posted February 28, 2011 Just got back from bass pro. Bub Tosh gave a good one about punching mats in the delta. He has his own company called Paycheck Baits and they specialize in all things Delta lol especially punching. He gave out some punching skirts today. Luckily our Tax guy is an avid fisherman and he's one of the guys who helped start the Paycheck baits and is good friends with Bub,so i have a bunch of punching skirts. Can't wait to do some punching this summer it's a technique we really need to get into Quote
okiefisher8 Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Got the chance to meet Rick Clunn today. He was a good guy, and very informative on fishing square bills. Quote
