Super User Crestliner2008 Posted January 17, 2011 Super User Posted January 17, 2011 Watched it this weekend. I'm sorry, I know he's a great guy and probably an outstanding fisherman; but his comedy just turns me off. I watch fishing shows for only one thing. To give me information and/or show me techniques I've yet to try on the waters I fish. I use to watch Ed Sullivan for entertainment! Quote
Super User slonezp Posted January 17, 2011 Super User Posted January 17, 2011 The fact that he rides the little yellow school bus says it all. Quote
Green Hornet Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Certainly not your typical fishing show. I wasn't impressed. Quote
Super User bassfisherjk Posted January 17, 2011 Super User Posted January 17, 2011 I think his new show stinks, don;t even know why he's on UMF. Quote
OK Bass Hunter Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 At least I know I wasn't being too harsh in my evaluation after I watched the first episode. I like to be entertained and/or educated by the fishing shows I watch. His show did neither for me. Quote
ChiCityBasser Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 I've watched the show because of cabin fever but I'm not impressed with his antics or the bus but I'll deal with it til spring. Quote
Quillback Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 I watched it today for the first time, the episode where he talks about hiding lures in his wife's makeup box. That's when I switched channels. Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 I've watched two shows so far and hopefully I wont have to watch three...He fishes in a small boat, if he even stays in the boat, and acts like an idiot. I like him as a person i guess, but his show STINKS... Quote
Nick Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Fish for Prezident! Buy all the Bomber waterdogs you can find. When's the last time you saw a tv show where the host promoted a lure he wasn't hawking, and he did it for most of the show. I get a kick out of Fish even out of the boat. Zona's show is so-so, but I must say that having known him before he went "hollywood" that he was a good guy, and one heck of a stick. Quote
CJ Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 You know if Fish would do things a little.....well a lot different, I could see where a mix of comedy and fishing could make for a good show to watch. But really, I thought what I've seen to be more stupid than funny. I do like Fish though. He's a good personality for the industry. Just needs to get some new writers for his show. I think whoever scripted the 2 shows I've watched were in elementary school. Quote
Super User eyedabassman Posted January 22, 2011 Super User Posted January 22, 2011 I don't get his show and maybe that is a good thing from what everyone is saying. Are there any clips that someone can post on here? Quote
VekolBass Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 I think the show is targetted at beginning bass anglers, or people thinking about doing it. In a couple of episodes he stressed throwing crankbaits into heavy cover and banging them off of it to generate strikes. Everybody reading this knows that banging a crankbait into cover is the way to go--but a beginner doesn't, and is afraid of it. That said, the non-stop sight gags and childish humor is too much even for me--and I happen to like FF. Humor in a lot of cases is a matter of balance. A lot of shows could use more of it. Fish's show has too much. And I already know to bang crankbaits into cover, and that dressed treble hooks are often a good idea. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted January 30, 2011 Super User Posted January 30, 2011 I think I'm actually dumber after watching a small portion of the show last night. Quote
MonarkMcfaster Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 I have been watching it, I don't like it but somehow manage to put up with it... Quote
flippin and pitchin Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Different strokes for different folks. Quote
Nick Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Of all the "pro's"out there, and I've been in the boat with several, I'd pick Fish in the top three for a day of fishing! His show may not do much for many guys who are bent on learning how to catch bass, but for 30 minutes his show is a sometimes fun escape. Anyone names Claude can't be all that serious. Quote
bankerbasser Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 The show sucks, can't take him serious. He was good at first on UMF, but he got old quick. He is a good fisherman, but his brand of humor is not appealing to most. Quote
Hot Rod Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Watched some of the show for the first time on Saturday. My 8 year old daughter, who was in the room at the time, thought it was too childish!!! Quote
0119 Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Well its a good thing you all have a remote that changes channel. Now you can watch someone classy like Charlie Moore waste your time dusting cans with a AR-15 when he should be on the boat, or making commercials hanging with Tred Barta acting like friends. All the while Barta is thinking to himself exactly what Sinatra used to say "Kid, I poop people like you in my stool" Quote
BassShephard Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 Don't want to be to harsh since i'm sure that he is a good guy but... I just saw the show and its horrible, to many cut-a-way scenes and not enough fishing also way... to childish. Dave Mercer (Facts of Fishing) has that child like way about him, but he does it in moderation and its usually funny, he is a good fisherman and gives good tips imo. Lunkerville trumps all fishing shows, mike usually doesn't go for the pros and it has funny moments without out going over the top. Some of the best tips come from this show too, because a lot of the guest don't have sponsors. If the Fishburne show is to survive, This guy needs to do something between lunkerville and Facts of Fishing. Quote
Vinny Chase Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 The first of its kind, Saturday morning cartoon fishing show sandwiched between Doug and Recess (at least that's what I watched)!! That way it may be successful.........Probably not Quote
Mike D from Lunkerville Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Lunkerville trumps all fishing shows, mike usually doesn't go for the pros and it has funny moments without out going over the top. Some of the best tips come from this show too, because a lot of the guest don't have sponsors. i like this guy! thank you man! Quote

All the while Barta is thinking to himself exactly what Sinatra used to say "Kid, I poop people like you in my stool" At least Charlie's wife was in the show every once in awhile and on the commercial in the swim suit where he "caught" her top. (and who doesn't like Chuck Whoolery?) Though, now that I think of it, I'm not sure how many super models it would take to help Fish's show enough to be watchable. Quote
Fishing Cowgirl Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Yesterday I watched the "Adam and Eve" special that Fish did. We liked it better than the others. Quote
