crankbait2009 Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 I decided to attend the first night of the BPS Classic in Cincinnati. While roaming the store, i DID NOTICE rods flying off the shelves as well as ALL KVD gear, ranging from lures to reels to rods. It was crazy!! there was a post on here the other day about the day after he won the classic KVD lures and what not would be a hot comodity (sp?)...boy was that ever true!!! i could understand a few things here and there but people were raiding the shelves. IT WAS CRAZY!! BPS did have the Strike King KVD 1.5/2.5 crankbaits on sale. When you first walk in the door, they have a big wooden kiosk box filled with these 1.5 and 2.5's. i got there an hour before the classic started and within an hour of the classic, this kiosk was showing the bottom of the box. That kiosk was the hottest part of the show!! Not that i was in the whole KVD world, i did buy a 1.5 in bluegill color since it was in my arsenal of shallow diving cranks. other than that, that was the only one i bought. Quantum/Strike King made out big time from what i could see!!! They could have put everything "KVD" in one room and closed the rest of the store and everyone would have been content!!!! Other than that.....Great sales as always. Quote
Flukeman Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 We had our Federation board meeting at the Auburn store tonight. The unfortunate part was we had a major snow storm and Chris and Woo Daves flight was canceled, that was a bummer for folks. We did get done in time to walk around a little and pick a few things up. Even though the storm kept people away, the KVD 1.5/2.5 in chartreuse sold right out. They had some nice sales going on and the staff was great. Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted February 26, 2011 Super User Posted February 26, 2011 I went to the BPS in Clarksville IN tonight to see Marty Stone and Edwin Evers. Before I even got to the fishing section I heard either "Where are the Strike King baits?" or " Where are those KVD baits?" atleast 5 times. I didn't buy any but I did buy some of the Xcalibur square bills. Were you there for Charlie Hartleys demo. I'm debating going to see him tomorrow. I'd really like to but another 2hr+ trip just for his seminar seems alittle crazy....I guess I'll just have to spend $100+ to justify the drive : Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted February 26, 2011 Super User Posted February 26, 2011 Also went to the opening today... Manteca for me. Picked up a PQ and some Yum baits that were 1.99 in a big bin. I was pleasantly surprised that they seemed to be well stocked with reels this year for the trade in since last year was a joke if you didn't get there early the first day. Wish more things were on sale, but don't we all! Quote
Super User Sam Posted February 26, 2011 Super User Posted February 26, 2011 I was in Hampton, Virginia on Friday so I visited that BPS around 11:00AM after my client's meeting in Norfolk. Store was not as crowded as I expected but of course, as stated above, guys were all over the rods and reels. There was one special KVD area with his 1.5's on an end cap. There was still a good selection available. It took me three tries before I located the silent ones that were with the other crankbaits. Cash register computer did not give me my 20% off the two Rapalas I purchased so it is back to the BPS in Ashland, Virginia to get the credit applied. What was nice was that in addition to the fishing items I got a BPS outfit for my grandson. His first one. And I used my Rewards points and never paid a dime for the $140 of fishing stuff and the $10 outfit!!! Quote

Super User Jig Man Posted February 26, 2011 Super User Posted February 26, 2011 I went to the main store in Spfld. MO. There was nothing special that I could see going on and the lot and store were not crowded. I didn't see anything that I wanted so I guess I am stocked up. Quote
boneil Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Baltimore's bp was packed yesterday at about 2pm. They were almost completey out of left handed fishing reels. I did manage to get the last johnny sig series. Most of the good rods were also gone. the cashier told me that the employees took all the kvd square bills in the winning colors. They should be out of square bills by the end of today. Quote
Missouribassman95 Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 I'm going tomorrow. . . hopefully everything won't be sold out! Quote
Stasher1 Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 I thought about going today, but I figured I'd just wait until the middle of next week instead. Too many workin' folks there on the weekends. Quote

Too many workin' folks there on the weekends. Basically the same thing I said to myself about 20 minutes ago. Is there anything worth buying this year anyway? The flyer seemed pretty slim. Quote
Stasher1 Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Not really, but Tuesday is my B-day so I'm gonna go find something. ;D Plus, I have class on Tuesdays, and BPS is only 2-3 miles from the school. Quote
