Super User NorcalBassin Posted February 17, 2011 Super User Posted February 17, 2011 If you have Directv, you can get the Outdoor Channel "a la carte" for 3.50 instead of upgrading to a bunch of channels you don't even want. Quote
B A S S E R Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 I love the outdoor channel. Sportsman Channel and Outdoor channel are pretty much always on my tv. The worst part about O Channel is Gold Fever. That show sucks! and the half hour infomericials in the AM Quote
Simp Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Guys the deal is espn canceled all there fishing programming except bassmasters. They are choosing to run soccer instead. Quote

ChiCityBasser Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Guys the deal is espn canceled all there fishing programming except bassmasters. They are choosing to run soccer instead. This is true with the Outdoor Channel and Sportmans Channel getting the fishing shows that were cancelled on espn. Quote
Five-Alive Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 this is basically the same show just on a different network, if you like Zona you will love it, man hugs, double rainbows, tears and all. Quote
bassking1976 Posted February 22, 2011 Author Posted February 22, 2011 yep love zona's shows very entertaining gotta say very depressing that its on outdoor channel which i dont have and cost alot more to add meanwhile VS (which is free and included) has charlie moore who is god awful very depressing lol Quote
Simp Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 I wouldn't be surprised that the contract he had with espn/bass wouldn't allow him to be on VS. For as much as ESPN and it's personalities loves to put down VS. Comcast has really turned VS into ESPN's first real challenge in the sports arena. Now that Comcast owns NBC watch VS get even bigger. kadas Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Guys the deal is espn canceled all there fishing programming except bassmasters. They are choosing to run soccer instead. I don't know about anyone else but it makes me feel REAL good to know they cancellled their fishing shows so we can watch soccer and poker tourneys Quote
Nick- Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 I have a friend named Eric Haajta who owns Wisconsin Big Fish Guide Service. He's filmed shows with everyone from Babe Winkelman, Mike Iaconelli, The Linders, & Mark Zona. He said Zona by far was his favor person to fish with. Total Class Act & hilarious! Quote
brophog Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 I wouldn't be surprised that the contract he had with espn/bass wouldn't allow him to be on VS. For as much as ESPN and it's personalities loves to put down VS. Comcast has really turned VS into ESPN's first real challenge in the sports arena. Now that Comcast owns NBC watch VS get even bigger. Versus is expanding, but they're still chopped liver compared to FOX's stable of sports networks. FOX is not only ESPN's chief competitor, but they win their fair share of contracts against ESPN, and for some of the really big events, too. They've shown that they'll outbid ESPN on desirables, just to gain market share. Not necessarily the smartest choice, but a very real thorn in ESPN's side. well forget espn then who the heck wants to watch soccer bad choice on their parts There's more fishing shows than one can shake a stick at, and on a huge number of networks as well. Soccer, domestically, is only shown on a few networks and has a growing fanbase in a highly desirable demographic. I miss some of ESPN's Outdoors programming, too, but this is a very easy to understand business decision. ESPN sees the competition out there, and is re-focusing on the bigger events. Outdoors programming made nice filler for them, but the future of sports programming is global and those early morning time slots can be better filled with popular global programming. Quote
jeb2 Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 I've watched 3 of Zona's shows now. Not a fan at this point. I think he's a funny guy and all, but I watch a fishing show to learn something. Sorry, but I don't care about building Kriet's ego back up, or watching Zona doubt he should be a show host because he has one bad day. If it works for you, that's awesome. But I want to hear about the bait they're using, the lake they're on, the time of year, the water temp/depth/clarity, techniques, etc. You get very little of that on his shows. Quote
