Winter is so different for each of us depending on where we are located geographically. I enjoy Winter fishing but most years the water has been hard from late December to early March. Unless I ice fish I'm not going to be fishing much in this season. We had a week of highs in the 50s to high 60s last week so I took a drive to check the lake conditions on Saturday. It looks like we need another week of the same type of temperatures because the lakes are still frozen. Unfortunately, that's not going to happen. Winter has returned this week. It would help if I had some bass-holding rivers nearby.  I can't wait for March and warmer temperatures.

I LOVE winter fishing, but I cheat and have a power plant lake about 30 minutes away.  Last sunday, my partner and I caught about 14 fish over the 16" mark.  Our biggest 4 went 16.75 lbs.

It has been like this all winter. :)

I do best when the water is under 50 degrees, love it. Just not the northern wind.

I enjoy fishing in the winter. You dont get as many bites but the ones you do get are often quality. This is the time where I break out the soft swimbaits and dedicate to really working them. Also I don't mind fishing in the rain. As long as your prepared for the weather gear wise you should be good. I dnot have the privelage to be choosy about the weather when I get a chance to get out. Plus I really like that there are only the most dedicated of fisherman out during bad weather. All the Panzies stay home.

I love winter fishing. One reason aside from catching alot of fish the mosquitos are down and out. They are terrible here in the mid-south. Are they as bad up North as what I have heard?
