WdyCrankbait Posted February 4, 2011 Author Posted February 4, 2011 Boats and electronics are pricey, so don't get married... AWESOME! The women I meet are helping me out with this problem. 8-) Quote
shootermcbob Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Easy for me. Roadwarrioir posted an informative piece for those of us who weren't catching fish very often, or not at all. In this piece, he...well, here is the link, you can read from him much better than I could paraphrase http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1158577137 Quote
Missouribassman95 Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 For me it has to be help with the Zoom Superfluke. I was totally sucking it up with this lure, but you guys helped me out alot! 8-) Quote
Super User bassfisherjk Posted February 5, 2011 Super User Posted February 5, 2011 Hard to pick just one.The site and the people on it are a wealth of knowledge. Thanks. Quote

lk ozark Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 Beware of the Baitmonkey. It took me a while and more $$$ than I'll admit but it finally sunk in. Quote
jignfule Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 I too have picked up many tid-bits of useful info through the years, but I think the best advice led me to quality gear. GLX G.Loomis rods & Shimano reels. Quote
WdyCrankbait Posted February 5, 2011 Author Posted February 5, 2011 Beware of the Baitmonkey. It took me a while and more $$$ than I'll admit but it finally sunk in. Never heard the term Baitmonkey before. :-/ Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 5, 2011 Super User Posted February 5, 2011 From Big O: The "right" color can make good fishing better. 8-) Quote
Super User slonezp Posted February 5, 2011 Super User Posted February 5, 2011 Beware of the Baitmonkey. It took me a while and more $$$ than I'll admit but it finally sunk in. Never heard the term Baitmonkey before. :-/ You haven't lived til you met the Baitmonkey. I enjoy the videos, and articles. I can't pinpoint 1 piece of advice but the thing I like best is can get plenty of different opinions. Fishing shows on tv are biased to their sponsors. Magazines may give you 1 or 2 options and tend to promote the lasest trends(which I am a sucker for ;D). BR can potentialy give me thousands of dirrerent opinions on where to fish, what to fish, how to fish, what to do when they're not biting and real unbiased reviews of equiptment and baits that I may never have tried . BassThumb Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 I've seen so much good advice on here, it's hard to break it down like that. But I can say that the info on this site has turned me into an avid jig fisherman, and greatly diversified the types of baits that I'm confident using. Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted February 5, 2011 Global Moderator Posted February 5, 2011 Without a dought... How to fine tune my equipment for different types of presentations and conditions. [not done yet] Mike Quote
BadKarma42 Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 "Let the fish tell you what they want." Absolutely the biggest cop-out answer one can give. Fish flouro on topwater. This, however, is priceless info. Speedbead uses these all the time when the fishing gets slow. Quote
JacobK Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 it's about how you present the lure, you don't see chefs lobbing steaks in the air crashing down on our plates they're gently set down in front of us. Quote
KWM Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 This is for fishing worms and what not.....If you think you are fishing it as slow as you can.......SLOW DOWN! I'm all about Soft Plastic worms. Quote
dulouz Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Beware of the Baitmonkey. It took me a while and more $$$ than I'll admit but it finally sunk in. Never heard the term Baitmonkey before. :-/ You've got to watch out for that one... "You can never have too many lures." a fishin' buddy told me once. This winter I started scaling back what I carry in my box. What I have learned the most here is gear related, mainly about reels. I love reading the rod, reels, line thread. Thank you everyone for all of your contributions. Quote
lynyrdsky1 Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 To much brain overload. Fishing wise, it would have to be info on senkos. Never would of tried them till I heard about them here. Other info, which I find very important now, is correct spelling and grammer. Someone will probably fine incorrect grammer in this Quote
MFBAB Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 This is pretty general but I love the idea of being able to ask questions about a product (or just search the forum)before I buy it, whether it's line, electronics, terminal tackle, whatever. As others have said, you are getting real information from other "unsponsored" w/end warriors, not just the hype you hear on the TV shows, etc. To me this is probably the greatest benefit of forums in general. I've also met some new fishing buddies along the way through forums and there's nothing wrong with that. Best fishing tip I've heard in the last year: Rattletraps are idiot baits, you are an idiot of you're not throwing them when the water is cold.... Quote
B A S S E R Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Rattletraps are idiot baits, you are an idiot of you're not throwing them when the water is cold.... so true! Quote
