Scorcher214 Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Haven't watched it on TV, but went on utube and looked at the sneak peak. Meh, If it was on i guess i would watch it. Why does that one guy need the title of "Army Bass Angler"? Does he fish FOR the army or something? Quote
Stasher1 Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Bah, not impressed. Looked like a 30 minute Lake Fork Tackle commercial. I thought it was decent. It's nice to watch fishing when you can't actually fish. I also thought it was cool that they had Gary Dobyns on the show. IIRC, they're one of the show's sponsors. Quote

Why does that one guy need the title of "Army Bass Angler"? Does he fish FOR the army or something? Yes, it is a team. Not sure if he is still in the army, but I think he is. If not he was in, he mentioned it in the show. Quote
Vinny Chase Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 It looks very similar to The Scott Challenge, which is one of my favorite shows, so I have high hopes! Quote

I didn't even watch all that much of it and I heard more "hooahs" than I heard the entire time I was on active duty while watching the show. I wanted to punch him in the jejunum. Quote

CAdeltaLipRipper Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 That show wasn't too bad. I still like Hook N' Look, and The Bass Pros. i think hook n look gets kinda old.Theres not a whole lot of catching in it and almost everytime the underwater stuff is the same.Plus he never shuts up about his POC evinrude lol Quote

SeanW Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 It looks very similar to The Scott Challenge, which is one of my favorite shows, so I have high hopes! True, I like Scotts show also. The difference is that 2 anglers vs 4 anglers in a 30 minute show. Im hoping it gets better. Quote
trevor Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 I really like Ultimate Match and the Bass Pros as far as bass fishing shows, but Flats Class is by far the most informative show on TV. Much info learned even carries over into freshwater. Quote
DTack Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 In my opinion you're crazy to mention a fishing show on a message board or forum since everyone seems to like different stuff. You'll get a few people that like it and most people will complain about it. I wish there were more fishing shows period. I'd rather watch fishing than just about anything else on TV. And if it's a local guy on it, I'm happier to watch it that way. I know I was really excited when Jarrett Edwards got his own show. Quote

DTack Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 I dunno if that was sarcastic but I LOVED truebass. If you wanted to learn how to fish they showed you just about as specific as possible. Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted January 2, 2011 Super User Posted January 2, 2011 I looked on both Thurs. & Friday and didn't see it listed here in MA? I have all the sports channels, including Versus and WFN. Quote

Sean, like you said there are 4 anglers, which makes it hard to keep up with the actual competition aspect of the show. I also noticed that the personalities of the anglers just aren't fit for their own show, if anything Gary Dobyns should be hosting. That army angler needs to go...he tried WAY too hard to be funny. Sherlock 60 Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Just watched part of it....one of the most boring fishing shows I've seen in a while. They lost me after about 5 minutes. I tried again later and they lost me even faster. "The Bass Pros" is my favorite simply because it consistently passes on good information. And this year they dropped Rick Clunn's "The Art of Angling" segment and replaced it with an instructional segment with Stacy King called "Bass 101." Good move. Quote

I like the instructional shows - I hate it when I watch a fishing show and they don't tell you what exactly they are using, just some generalities such as "I'm fishin a shakey head". I watch fishing shows to learn stuff, watching some guys high five'n each other and yelling "SON" gets old. And I don't like the shows were mainly they are selling a bait, seems like when they do that type of show, they are fishing a private lake bass heaven at a prime time of the year. If you want to sell me a bait, go out on a highly pressured public lake (and please mention the lake name) and catch fish. That impresses me a heckuva lot more. Quote

Good move. x 1,000,000,000.....I love watching the Bass Pros show. It seems to be the show that teaches the most. Rick Clunn's portion was the only part i couldn't stand. I know he knows his stuff and has forgotten more info on fishing than i will probably ever know but listening to him talk was like listening to a CD with a million scratches in it. Stacy King has always be one of my favorites. I think he will do a fantastic job. Quote
jdw174 Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Haven't seen the new Bass Pro's show yet, but I'm all for dropping Rick Clunn's segment. Listening to him is like watching grass grow. Show me different techniques....show me how a lure looks underwater when worked properly...show me SOMETHING besides somebody's home movies for crying out loud! Quote
Olebiker Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Did anyone catch Fish Fishburn's new show? I really like the boy, but that show was just painfull to watch. Quote
Vinny Chase Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Just watched the 2nd episode of Big Bass Battle . I know its hard to believe, but it actually got worse Quote
.Paxamus. Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Did anyone catch Fish Fishburn's new show? I really like the boy, but that show was just painfull to watch. Just saw it and WOW ws that stupid. I really like Fish, but that was ridiculous, it wasn't even funny; however if I ever find myself trying to land a bass on a topwater while fishing from a tree stand in a pond with six pound line, that is the show to watch! Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted January 7, 2011 Super User Posted January 7, 2011 The only show that I watch every episode of is my buddy Larry's show, Hunt For Big Fish. Quote
Lucky Craft Man Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 I'm gonna check it out.I don't have to work Thursday or Friday. I hope it's not as boring as redlinerobert says it is. I've been hearing great things about it from others. I watched a bit of it, definitely better than a lot of the other shows in my opinion. Some shows don't show enough fish catching, and some are just too unrealistic. Come on David....you're a good guy. Lets be real here though. The ONLY reason you're posting about this show is due to the fact that Gary Dobyns is in it. If he wasn't, you'd not be making this thread. Well, after watching this show from my DVR, I actually had the same thought, because this show was painful to watch and wondered why someone would promote it so strongly. As far as The Bass Pros, episode 2 of this season was on yesterday. The Bass Fishing 101 segment had Woo Daves featured in it this week and it was relatively informative. They really upgraded the show by removing the Art of Angling and adding the Bass Fishing 101 segment. I also like how they extended "Fishing in 4" to "Fishing in 5." Just an all around great show.
