Yup. It's a beautiful place and the drift is awsome.  If you want big fish you might be dissapointed but 100 fish days are not uncommon. It's been years since I was there and they say the fishing has only improved.

Been down the John Day River several times.  Excellent fishing.  Here's an article I did on it:

A year later, I did it again in the early fall and caught several smallies over 4lbs - the largest was just under 6lbs.

Ya we're bringing our own gear if we go there lol.They say the food is incredible there and you can walk down right from your cabin and catch a ton of smallies
