The Bassinator Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Even if its windy, cold and raining you can have a good day. Even if you dont have a really great day at least you dont have to share it with a thousand other people because who would want to fish in those conditions Quote

nomad60 Posted December 11, 2010 Posted December 11, 2010 The greatest annoyance here in Korea is something you've probably never had to deal with in the states. Fishing nets! The waters here are covered with fishing nets and I lose more tackle in those things than everything else combined. The nets are anchored down with ropes that stretch out for several yards under the water and you obviously can't see them, but a crank bait finds them very easily and there is no way on earth to get them out short of going diving. And the nets are EVERYWHERE! I probably lose about three rigs per outing on average to fishing nets. Very frustrating! Yes sir...nets and then a close second are the carp fishermen who line the shore with 10 rods each and if you're also fishing from shore, don't think twice about setting up right on top of you like you're not there. Diablos Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 One thing I hate more than bad weather is bad weathermen. Earlier this summer I left work early to fish into the evening. The forecast was calling for overcast skies with possible showers. Perfect!! I spend an hour gettin the boat ready and driving to the pond. I launch the boat and make two casts and boooooom!!! flash!!! Thunderstorms moved in. I pull the boat and go home. Quote

aceman387 Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 For me it is fatigue.I tend to stop and fish on the way home from work and fatigue messes with my concentration.I wish i could take a 10 minute power nap in the car once i arrived at a spot but I'm usually so fired up to go fishing i cant fall asleep. Super User BrianinMD Posted December 12, 2010 Super User Posted December 12, 2010 A big annoyance is guys like the one in the picture. Have the whole potomac river to fish and this guy comes into where a friend and I were fishing. The area is a warm water discharge, we were casting to the other side. He saw us doing this and came right through were we were casting. The warm water flows from here into the main river and provides 1/4 to 1/2 mile of fishing areas. Most is unreachable from shore, perfect for a boat. Got a little funny because he wanted to fish one particular spot. But a group a kayak competition was using the upper part of the discharge for a competition. The pool this idiot wanted to fish was their turn around area. Got a little of his own medicine before he left. Quote

brushhoggin Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Here is an outline of an average Carp fishing day for me. You stalk up to a carp through thick brush, and it sees you. You stalk up to a carp, and it sees you. You stalk up to a carp, and it sees you. You stalk up to another carp, and it sees you. Then you stalk up to a carp, and it sees you. Finally one does not see you, and you stalk up to it, and then it sees you. You stalk up to a carp, and it sees you. Then one actually doesn't see you, you go to make a cast, and your little size 10 fly fell down through the top guide, so you slowly get it out the top guide. Then you go to grab the rod handle, and a twig catches the line and pulls the hook through the first guide again. So you set everything straight, make a pitch, and the line stops halfway cause theres a loop in your line, so you set it straight. Then you finally make a pitch, and it catches a branch and you spook the carp. what? :-? Quote

Got a little of his own medicine before he left. The old Potomac bent pole pattern! Just drive up and down the river until you see someone catch a bass then pull 25' from them and start casting. > I had a guy do this to me at Big Slackwater and it really ticked me off! He is coming upriver at like 60mph sees me catch a fish and immediately shuts down. Next thing he does is drop the TM and come in right beside me. At one point I thought he was going to hit my boat and he did cast over my line he was that close. Whether he was just that ignorant or a complete Ahole I don't know? I can tell you he received several WOT fly byes. Allen Quote
