Super User fishfordollars Posted December 29, 2010 Super User Posted December 29, 2010 I gave him an example of a pattern within a pattern in my first response. I don't see that it was being harsh at all. Don't consider any of the other responses out of line either. He now has examples of a pattern within a pattern. Jack Quote

rubba bubba Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 Can anyone identify the pattern within the pattern described below: Fishing Log: 12/4/2010: The bass hit lightly in a few feet of water close to the bank, Retrieve: I was retrieving the lure slowly in about 1 foot of water Assuming the fish (singular) in the "bite" section is the same fish (singular) as in the "retrieve" section, you list 2 different depths of water for the same fish. JamesH Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 Pattern: Fish was in the water Pattern in the Pattern: Fish was hungry All kidding aside, don't be shy. Come back on here and explain what your thought process was. Taking notes like that is more than I do. Keep at it and it will pay off! Quote

basslover12345 Posted December 31, 2010 Author Posted December 31, 2010 My purpose of doing this was so that I could reference it, but also seeing the baitfish flickering on top of the water column clued me in that I was throwing the right bait and that the top of the water was the warmest part at the time I was out on the water because close to where I got bit, there were small baitfish flicking on top the water which would make sense for a bass to be close to them under the possibly waiting for one of the baitfish to struggle and for the bass to eat that one struggling baitfish, this would make sense to me because the one bite I did get was in the middle of the water column and the the baitfish were right on top of the bass. I think the reason for the baitfish being active was of the warmer water temperatures in the deeper part of the pond, I usually see the baitfish shallow, but the shallowest parts of the pond were iced over so the baitfish were stacking up close to the shore in the deeper water and the bass were there waiting for them. But I think the biggest reason of me getting this bite is that I was where the baitfish were active....... I also think the space monkey was a good lure to throw because bass like moving baits on cloudy days and the space monkey has several moving apendages Quote
