BigEbass Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 Caught my PB the beginning of this year, hope to beat it quickly in 2011, 2011 being only the start of my 4th year of fishing (with what little time I actually get to fish with a busy work and home life) - goals this year is to learn STRUCTURE in greater detail - focus on finding the key spot on spots, learn my electronics in greater detail - learn verticle techniques this winter - spoon, jig, ice jig, etc...learn the "float n fly" technique - and finally key in on the swimbait bite this year - have only tried it a couple days on the water half-hearted - this is the year of extremes for me - extremely small and precise presentation, and large and even more precise presentations - all this with the broader goal of catching more of a quota of trophy sized bass this year....of course with only probably about 20-25 actual days on the water likely in 2011, my progress is as such limited....therefore I plan on alo going with a couple guides in my region to pick up on these tactics and hopefully shorten my learning curve... But in the end, Ill be happy just being out there with a wet line!!!!!!!!! Quote

tjc76 Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 2011 plans- Continue to get my young boys interested in fishing. Buy a small boat, rowboat or jon, so I can get to deeper water in the fall and not have to deal with the depression of not catching any fish when October rolls around. Spend more time fishing the DE River. I have this fantastic fishery within a 40 minute drive, and only go once or twice a year :'( Quote

WoolleyBass Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 Well, I made my 2010 goals - get off the bank and on the water (got a canoe) and to catch 1,000 bass (I'm at 1052 as of today). For 2011 - I guess my goals would be to wean myself from my confidence baits and to learn new baits/techniques, to better understand and exploit underwater structure, to better understand and use my sonar, and to improve the quality of the fish caught (larger average size). Not as quantifiable as the 2010 goals, but goals nonetheless! Goose you summed up my goals lol. Im going to be off the bank as well now that i got my pontoon boat. Roby Quote

Super User Goose52 Posted December 4, 2010 Super User Posted December 4, 2010 Goose you summed up my goals lol. Im going to be off the bank as well now that i got my pontoon boat. Roby Good luck on your goals! It's nice to have the capability to be on the water, but I still fish more from the bank. The canoe is an all-day kinda thing that I manage once a week, twice a week at best. The other days, I'm still making the short drive to one or more of my 11 local lakes and fishing from the bank for a few hours. Score so far this year? 425 fish (all species) from the boat, 733 from the bank... Quote

Super User senile1 Posted December 4, 2010 Super User Posted December 4, 2010 My goal is simple. I just want to spend more days on the water. The last few years work has really kept me busy and it isn't likely to subside anytime soon. I am spending less days on the water but when I am out there I seem to be catching more quality bass so I am thankful for that. I am also thankful that I have a job and make a good income but I wish I could achieve more of a balance between fishing and working. Also fishing helps me ignore the voices. Quote
