shutupnfish Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Especially those that fly solo as I do 99.9% of the time. What's an ideal way to get some photo's of you and your fish, in the same pic? I've got a decent digital camera with a timer so I've got that end of it. Do I need to get a tripod? I could use the tailgate of my truck but it's usually a good distance from the water because it's a wee bit noisy. Any ideas? Thanks! Steve Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted October 27, 2010 Super User Posted October 27, 2010 You need a tripod unless there is a stranger nearby willing to take the pictures. Of course if you have long enough arms then you could take one of those weird looking ones of yourself. Might take a couple tries to get both you and the fish in the picture. I assume you'd like your face in the shot, and not just a wonderful shot of your pecs! LOL. Quote
NateFollmer Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 I would just get a cheap tripod for only that reason (don't use it if it's windy). I have a tripod I got at Target for like $20 and I use it for crappy conditions (river, mud, stuff like that). Gets the job done. If I'm fishing myself though, I usually just lay the fish in about an inch of water, put the rod beside it, and shoot the pic. I don't like laying them on the dry ground. Quote
Greed Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 I'm usually at a local city park pond with many people that are just there walking and are usually more than happy to snap a shot of me. If I'm alone I'll just whip out the measuring tape and get a shot and release it. There have been times when I've caught 17+" Bass and have waited a minute or two before I land it so someone walks by and I can ask them Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted October 27, 2010 Super User Posted October 27, 2010 This is what I use. It can wrap arround small trees or sit on your tackle box. It's great. Quote

shutupnfish Posted October 27, 2010 Author Posted October 27, 2010 It's usually me and mother nature, and she's always busy doing other stuff so a willing passerby is never around. Thanks for the ideas. Later. Steve Quote
HairyBass Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 My other passion is photography and I've bought and tried just about every tripod out there. I like the gorilla pod shown a few posts above but I like my zipshot tripod better. It folds up to about 14" and in 2 seconds you can have it at full height. I like to use it with my p&s or my Canon 5D2 with a small lens and it's perfect. It's the Tamrac Zipshot Tripod. Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted October 28, 2010 Super User Posted October 28, 2010 If your camera supports it you can get a remote for it and just leave it on a tripod. Then when you catch one just look at the camera and "click" Done 8-) Quote
Missouribassman95 Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 I like to lay the fish out next to a measuring tape. Quote
