I went largemouth bass fishing yesterday and I caught 5 decent fish, every fish I caught had another bass following it the whole way to the boat. I have not done a lot of fall fishing so is there something that I am missing. Why is this happening?

Thank You

Mark

It sounds like they could have been grouped up feeding on baitfish.  When bass are active and in a group you will tend to see more followers.

I like when I see bass in groups.  I feel that the competitive predator in them gives me the advantage.

One of them will usually hit a lure.

If you have a buddy with you when its like that, have him cast right behind your fish and bring his lure by it, and odds are he will pick up a bass as well.  It's not as challenging, but it can be fun none the less :)

So, if you don't mind me asking, what were you using?  I'm going to Blue Springs lake tomorrow and any inside info would be much appreciated.

X3. They are selfish critters. They'll hit a bait just so the other one(s) don't get it. When I see 2 or more cruising the shoreline, I'm pretty confident I can drop a senko in front of them and one of them will grab it. Most times it ends up being the runt though so multiple casts are in order.

^ just like I do.  Trick stick or a Zoom finesse wacky will usually get one to bite.

As was said before, if there are fish following the hooked one and you have a buddy in the boat, tell him to throw in near your fish.

Oh and I was mainly using a 1/4oz black spinner bait.
