Super User Hammer 4 Posted October 14, 2010 Super User Posted October 14, 2010 Re: swimbaits rods, and reels. You don't need a 300 yd capacity round reel. I've thrown them on my Chronarch 101 bvp..A reel such as the Curado 300 works just fine. Also, if your not into spending a ton of $$ on gear, look around at some used stuff, you can some Great deals if you know where to look.. For the smaller swimbaits, a good 7'6" to 7'11" H rod will suffice. Quote
gobig Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 Bill Siemantle just designed a rod for throwing smaller swimbaits and frogs. Its the Lamiglas Excel Casting Rod 7'3" Med Hvy XL735C. It has a price point of about $100. Quote

Super User Grey Wolf Posted October 14, 2010 Super User Posted October 14, 2010 One of these Do you have the floater or the sinker? What kind of fish have you caught with it? I was just using the picture I posted to show a hard swim-bait in a bluegill color because it was on the computer, and i was too lazy to go on TW and find mine. I could never spend $80 on a swim bait. But i've caught some swimbait fish on a Reaction Strike Revolution Bluegill 3.5" in slow sink as I recently picked up the bluegill color to get into this swimbait craze. This is the one im using -->http://www.***.com/Reaction_Strike_Revolution_Bluegill_35/descpage-RSRBG.html#multiview Busted again , you'll never learn will you ? Quote
ludwig Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 I like throwing blue/black fleck fat ikas around the bluegill spawn. Quote
Super User webertime Posted October 14, 2010 Super User Posted October 14, 2010 If you want to catch those Bass, use a 4" Bluegill colored Sebile Magic Swimmer soft with all of the tungsten weights pushed as far forward as you can get them. Money... I love Road Runners with tubes/tiny ika's for sunnies/perch. Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted October 15, 2010 Super User Posted October 15, 2010 if you can't get a slowsink Mattlures hardgill, this would be my next choice. 4.5" blugill from Tylures..action is good at any speed, cost, 29.99 Quote
Missouribassman95 Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Storm Wildeye Swim Shad, bluegill color. I've caught bass with these in extremely pressured lakes. Quote
wvbucketmouth Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 Storm Wildeye Swim Shad, bluegill color. I've caught bass with these in extremely pressured lakes. Me too! About 5 bucks for a pack three of them and I do quite well in the strip pits with them. I seem to do best on the Sunfish. Quote

ShaneK1990 Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 I know I know they are all pretty awesome (thats an understatement) but I just have a hard time swallowing that PRICE!!! I have jumped in, and climbed some trees for rapalas I dont even want to know what I would do if I had one of those 50-80 dollar guys break off. :D I'm the same way! lol Quote
dockman Posted October 21, 2010 Author Posted October 21, 2010 Storm Wildeye Swim Shad, bluegill color. I've caught bass with these in extremely pressured lakes. Maybe I've just been unlucky or I'm just fishing them wrong. but these don't seem to even turn a head. How do you fish these? kinda like a jerkbait? Quote

I think it was let it sink to the bottom and slow retrieve but let me see if I can find the actual video. Quote
