Alumabass Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 caught 11 largemouth yesterday in 4 hours, and missed 2 also! I ran a 3 pound average, not bad for South Dakota and a lake that I have only fished 3 times. Everything was caught with a chrome Red Eye Shad with blood red hooks. I was going to go out again today, but I thought this was a great way to end the season and the boat goes into hibernation tomorrow. The largest one ran just shy of 4 pounds, strange thing, its lower lip was broken in the middle, but seemed to be healthy. Anyone ever seen this before? How would something like this happen? Thanks for reading- Arlo Quote
gotarheelz14 Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 Sounds like a good day for sure. Tell me though, you guys have a fishing season? How does that work? I'm from NC and we don't really have a season I think. Quote
Super User grimlin Posted October 16, 2010 Super User Posted October 16, 2010 We got a Bass season as well.Dec. 31st- 3rd or Last Saturday of April(catch and release only starts) My season usually ends when my fingers feel like they are going to fall off after an half hour or hour when I'm fishing. That's just too dang cold for me. Or when the lakes start to ice up and frozen. It Usually happens before Dec. up here. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted October 16, 2010 Super User Posted October 16, 2010 That sux you're done for several months, but at least you got a few good ones to hang your hat on. Our fishing is getting ready to explode so I'll make sure I post pic's of some fatties. Quote
MMan16 Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 Definately a good end to your season. As far as that broken lip I've been told by a few people and also read that you could break there jaw by lipping them. But,it really only could happen if there flipped horizontally and not supported correctly. So in essence all the basses weight is were your lipping him. That's why a lot of guys will support bigger fish under there tail when there horizontal. Quote
Lucas412 Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 I have caught several bass this year with a broken lower jaw right in the middle was wondering the same thing. Quote
