I'm in northern KY and was wondering about my subject title. With the weather finally cooling down, how will the bass begin to act? Will some days be more active than others? Will they become more active once the water temp holds at cooler temps?

Also, with the weather being finicky, how will the bass react? Example, I was in northern IL, and in one day, the temp went from 90 one day to 65 the next. What will this do to the fish behavior?

Not sure what that means? I haven't been on the water since end of July cause I was in CA all of August for training. Fishing was very tough before I left though.

usually this time of year the water cooling will turn the fish on especially if there is shad around and the shad ball up and come to the surface. if there are no shad just do what you do in the spring they will move back up in the shallow wood rock weed etc. if the water is low or lowering daily they may be out roaming, cranks, traps, jigs, plastics, what have you will work until the water gets cold enough to shut them down.

It probably means the time of the year when the cooler water is on top and the warmer water is deeper.

The water has no thermocline , it is pretty much the same temperature top to bottom.

I have never fished spring time. I've done summer twice now, and this will be my first fall. so not sure what to do or expect.

I've always done much better, especially with numbers, in the fall. The cooling temps cause the fish to really feed to get ready for winter.

I spend a lot of time in the fall chasing schooling fish on top.

In the words of Spock: FASCINATING

Fascinating for me how you guys up north across the border have to deal with those climatic changes, for me it 's a completley different world you fish in. In my neck of the woods those changes don 't happen, if something happens is: fall = lower light levels, water temps = about the same, lake levels = risen to full pool, water clarity = low. I can go fish in the middle of the winter and all I care about is getting up late and the day being too short, got to fish fast or won 't fish enough before dusk (  >:( ).

I love this time of the year.  As much fun as spring is, I've always caught more numbers and better fish towards the end of the year.  Hopefully we don't have the gross cold weather like last year.
