Bass_Akwards Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 Please give everyone at BR some great bass fishing advice. Just make it in 10 words or less please. You can be very general, or very specific. Try to limit yourselves to one answer per person and try not to repeat anyone elses advice. ("Come to Bass Resource" doesnt count as advice for this thread, due to the fact that everyone who's reading this post is already here ) I'll start. Lures are important, but learing how to FIND bass? HUGE! Quote

gotarheelz14 Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 This thread is awesome for newcomers like me. So for all you guys' advice, thanks. But, can someone explain this one to me please "Never leave fish to find fish" What does this mean? Thanks, Carlos Quote
Manigotapee Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 "Never leave fish to find fish" I don't know if I can totally expalin this to you, but this is something I started saying while tournament fishing. If you are in an area and catching fish, why leave. I developed a bad habit of thinking I could fish the entire lake if I moved around enough and eventually I would find the honey hole..... Not true, all I did was fish over what I was looking for. In a way this is similar to "Slow down" but in my opinion, this defines it a little more. If you are catching fish in a particular area or a particular way, don't abandon what you have in hopes of finding the "jackpot", fine tune what you have discovered already! I hope that helps, I have had a long weekend and I feel like I am having trouble getting the words from my brain to the keyboard Quote

B-Dozer Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 Take up a less expensive sport. I'm sure you're just joking, right? rowyourboat had the best advice. You don't need to spend a great deal of money to fish. I bet most of us started out using "junk" and had a lot of fun. My advice, read the articles in this forum. Quote

I'm not just talking about the bait monkey. One day you will buy your first boat. Then realize you need a truck to pull the boat. Then you realize the boat is not exactly what you wanted so you buy a bigger boat. Then you need a bigger truck to pull the bigger boat. Then you need a place to park the boat. Then you have to maintain the boat. Then you have to pay money and enter into tournaments. Then you have to upgrade your equiptment because "all the other tourney guys have expensive stuff", and well, expensive stuff catches fish. Then you're going to want to travel cross country to fish the lakes you see the pros fish. Then next year I have to buy another boat because I've grown out of my second boat. Oh why won't it just stop? And so on, and so on. Before you know it you have spent tens of thousands of $$$ to catch a stupid little fish. I should have taken up soccer. All you need for that is a ball, a pair of shoes, and a pair of shorts. 8-) Quote
