SuskyDude Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 I'd like to take a little poll. What do you fish for when Bass is out of season? Or don't you fish at all (I Doubt That). I do my best to target Walleye. But I'll chase Perch and Crappie on occasion too. How about you? Dude, they ended the closed season for bass in NY 3-4 yrs ago. Dec 1st - 3rd Sat in June is now catch and release, artificial lures only. You're welcome! PS- Good to see a fellow Binghamtonian on the board! Hey Susky, Where are you in Bingo? Do you mostly fish the River? Southside. Yup. I fish the river alot. Quote

BASSINATORBIGJOE Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 It must be horrible not being able to fish for bass 24/7/365. But I do deer hunt about 40 days each Fall......Mike 8-) Quote
Lucky Craft Man Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 I bass fish year round until the ice comes. Then I hit what streams didn't ice over for trout with the fly rod! Same here...from Mid-November to Early April I dust off the fly gear and fly fish for trout or steelhead. Quote

I like being able to pursue other types of fish. The main species I fish for, other than the Largemouth Bass and Smallmouth Bass, are Muskie, Trout, Steelhead, and the annual Salmon trip. There are also Walleye, Northern Pike, Bowfin, Catfish, Gar, Crappie, Sunfish, along with several other species I just don't target, but can be caught around here. I don't think that kind of variety exists in the south (unless of course, you add in saltwater fish). Quote
tholmes Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 There's no closed season for bass here, but I won't fish when it's really cold. I spend those days catching up on my guitar playing. Tom Quote

Camping with the family at a nearby campground. We'll be on the east end near Sylvan Beach. Any advice on where to fish on the east end? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I will ofcourse target bass, but I wouldn't be too upset if I had an opportunity to grab a Walleye or two either. I'd love to look like a superstar to my 12 year old son. Quote
johnnie724 Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 At the start of the year it's time to put on the waders and fish for trout in the streams. MD DNR does a great job stocking our waters so there's always something biting. Quote
Missouribassman95 Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 Here in Missouri it depends on the weather, sometimes we have a really mild winter, but last year it was terrible! Most of the time I stock up lures. Quote
McCawDog Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 Organize tackle box. Play poker. Catch up on TV watching. Quote

airborne_angler Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Whats this ice and snow everyone speaks of? When it gets colder, the trout stockings begin, and I might target them with an ultralight and some spinners Quote
farmpond1 Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 In Illinois the bass don't go out of season. But I have never done much good past October dragging a bait. Once/if the water turns hard, I go out on the ice. Never thought I'd say it but I love ice fishing-especially with a good flasher. It gets ^%$*& cold sometimes, though! Quote
airborne_angler Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 I have only Ice Fished once in my life and that was when I was stationed in Alaska. That outing is an experience that I wouldnt miss if I never got the chance to do it again. Talk about COLD!! Whoa!! Quote
