Honestly can't remember a time in my life when there wasn't SOME kind of fishing going on.  Deep Sea fishing in California when I was little.  Reservoir, and creek fishing in Utah growing up. Pond fishing in Texas and Georgia as a Teen at Boy Scout camps and such. Boat fishing finally as an adult on the Colorado rivers and lake systems, and bass boating it up in the reservoir near where I live. It's just always been with me.

I just started back after 25 years. Fished very little as a kid. Never caught a freshwater fish until 3 weeks ago. Caught a baby Hammerhead and a Yellow Jack from the Causeway on Sanibel Island Fla. Back in 1980. Hope to do alot of fishing in the future. absolutely love it! it is something my kids and I can do together. :)

Started fishing in the late 70's but my profession kept me from fishing more than 3 or 4 times a year.  Fishing bug got me in 1990 and when 9-10 times a month.  Now old and retired and have a grandson that loves to fish we live on the lake.  Never had a better fishing partner.

Been fishing about 49 years, since I was 3.  I remember standing on a sandy beach on Table Rock watching my dad and granddad going out in their boat to bass fish.  This was about 1960.  They really caught the bass back then on TR.  Of course, I was back on the beach catching bream with a canepole.  man I wish I could find a time machine that would send me back there but be able to bring along some tackle from today's world.

Sounds like my words, I'd like to go back with the way things were, simple. Now I sound like an old fart! ;)

I don't recall if I voted in the poll or offered a response since this was first posted on July 19th (more than a month ago) - but it just struck me as funny that anything more than 20 years is considered "all your life" - there are lots of things that I haven't done "all my life" that I have done for more than 20 years.  ;D

About 60 years for me. Started in freshwater as kid fishing local areas with my dad, had a cottage so we fished everyday in the summer. We also hit Canada a lot as lived 20 minutes away. Many fly in trips to different parts of Canada, the Algoma region was my favorite, made 3 trips there with canoe and living under the stars.

Became a snowbird in 1980 fishing saltwater in winter and freshwater in summer in Michigan. Now it's 90% saltwater, freshwater limited to a couple months of the year, full time Florida resident last 6 years. Many saltwater charter and guides in various Mexican and Caribbean locations, ain't nothing like catching " El Toro" on light tackle, I fish nearly everyday.

You are my hero! ;D I hope to do the same when I can retire, but it most likely will be all freshwater fishing because of finances.

Haven't been fishing as long as some (not as old. :D :D ), but 57 years. Dad started me with a cane pole at 5. Must have watched him fish before then (at local lake) but no memories of it. Too old. :(

Had a 23 year span with no fishing, but got back into it this year with a vengeance. Have spent more money on rods and reels this year than all the rest of my years put together.

Well Ive been fishing on and off since I moved here to Florida 30 yrs ago. My step father was a pan fisherman and I always wanted to fish for big game fish. He thought it was expensive and a waste of time and money. So now that Im older and have a little time for myself, I've recently began back fishing and Im starting to get that rush for the BIG game again. 8-)

I've been a self-sufficient fisherman since about 5-6.  Would run down to the local park right after school with mom and she would just sit there as I caught bluegill, bass, specs, cats, etc.  Remember one time when my uncle thought I was full of it since he could not believe that I could do it on my own, so I ran down to the park and loaded up on bluegills for a fish fry, made a believer out of him since he helped me clean the fish after!  So I guess I am going on 31 years now!
