Water clarity..

The lake I fish is normally pretty stained.  Maybe 1-2 foot visibility, which as far as I am concerened is the norm, it has always been that way.  However recently I have noticed that it has cleared up significantly, now maybe 4 foot visibility.  Is this a big enough change for me to make any changes in my gear?  I am mostly talking line here.  I use 50#PP with no leader on all my rigs besides crankin in which I use a mono leader.  Also I have been having are hard time catching much since I have noticed this change in water clarity.  Do you think my line has become a visibility factor?  Can the fish see it?  This lake is also highly pressued and even more so in the areas I am fishing.  Is it time for me to buy some Fluoro line?

I do not buy into line spooking fish theory but if it gives you peace of mind , tie a floro leader on.

I have fished a VERY CLEAR 25acre lake for at least 7 years with only PowerPro no leader. I can see a worm 10 feet down 50 feet out. Ive caught hundreds of bass out of it. I even wear bright yellow shirts fishing from shore and caught bass 3-4 feet from me. I dont think its your line at all.

However, a few friends and I did an experiment one day.  2 of us used power pro hivis yellow while the others used mono.   It was early march and things were kind of slow.

The two of us with power pro got our butts waxed.  Now I use a leader since I mostly fish lower clear lakes with visibility down to 20".

Changing to fluoro .... for a 4 ft clarity ? ......... hmmm. no.

One of the lakes  I fish did the opposite. It used to be clear about 2 ft. of visibility, but this year there is only a few inches of visibiliby. I've still caught alot of fish from the lake though.

wouldn't hurt to try flouro, and I think it would help since its a high pressured area.

If you're worried about it, just pick up some Fluorocarbon. 

But, personally I like to use the clear white line by Berkley, the XT super strong.  Never had a problem catching fish, my preference on thickness is 8 pound test.
