Tonight i realized my dog likes to fish, just as much as I do. As I'm getting my rods and tackle box out, he goes nuts! He jumps around and barks and runs around lol! When I cast the lure he watches it as it goes back and as it flies through the air. When I set the hook and am reeling in a bass, sometimes hear him whine, and get excited. And when i land a fish, he just wants to get close and look at it. I swear i could have bacon in my hand and he wouldn't care, as long as he can watch me fish. He was a fisherman in his past life for sure.

Any of you guys got dogs you take fishing?

Can't take mine as much as I'd like to, he's a beagle/jack mutt that is way too hyper. I don't think I could keep him in the boat...of course he doesn't remember he can't swim worth a darn until he gets in the water.

Yes my airedale loves to go out in the boat. He gets very excited when ever I say " Fish On" or when he hears a drag go off. I have to push him out of the way whenever netting a fish.

Nope, mine go after hogs.  I can't remember the guys name, but he has a TV show about fishing, and he takes his lab with him on the boat wherever he goes and the lab just sits up on the deck relaxing the whole time.  Pretty neat.

If my dogs did want to go fishing with me, it would only be in hopes that they could sit next to the tackle bag and eat all the worms out while I wasn't looking. :P

Mine enjoys it as long as it isn't too hot.

I just got a Yellow Lab and i had him since he was very small.  I take him with me and tie him to my chair when i'm fishing from shore.  I'm hoping when he calms down i will have a great fishing partner.  Plus a heads up protector.  I'm sure he will warn me if anything is wrong.

I fished this one spot lastyear and left at night.  I was alone and heard some sort of strange sound in the woods.  When i took the pup to this spot he looked across the water to the other side and started growling.  From what i have experienced i figure its a bobcat, lynx or a mountainlion because they have been spotted in my area.  Plus we have blackbears in the neighborhood too now.

Taking a dog fishing could save your life think about it?

I've heard some strange stuff at night while fishing.  On one of the bigfoot reporting sights there is a report that nearby my area too.  I have heard some strange howls at night too.

I keep an open mind and i'm not sure whats out there but we ain't alone.

I been face to face with mountainlions in VT too were there suppose to be extinct.  A few times..... ::)

weve taken my dog once (hes a yellow/white lab) on our boat. He just slept the whole time lol. but actualy he has caught his own fish lol. He caught a trout one time that was about 8 inches long.something was wrong with it like it could swim right so it was thrashing on top and he swam out and grabbed it. Another time my dad took him to mcclure before we got a boat and my dad had a good day but buddy (my dog) ended up getting the biggest fish of the day  :) hahaha there was about a 3 pound bass who was thrashing on the water that had a bluegill lodged in its mouth so it couldnt swim right and buddy went out there and grabbed him

Yeah she loves it. I got a mutt from the pound about 6 months ago, she stands up on the front deck with me and watches everything.  My buzzbait scared her coming across the water towards the boat the first few times she saw it, but she got used to it.

I have a beagle/dachsund mix and whenever I bring her with me, I end up having to spend more time watching her than fishing.

I used to have a beagle that liked to go. He was pretty good most of the time, but when we would get into weeds that matted the surface he thought he could jump out and run around on them. He was a pretty good swimmer.

Not only does he like to fish, he has nicer gear and usually catches more than I do...

I have an Old Town duck hunting kayak, and a big old aluminum canoe. I take my two dogs with me all the time, can't remember fishing w/o them for a very long time. Both are well behaved and love going. One is 75 pounds, one is 85 pounds.

When my fishing buddy can't go with me I take my Rottie, my lhasa apso, my sheltie mix with me in the bass boat. All 3 just lay there until I hook a fish then the Rott stands up. If I go pond hopping in my jon boat just my rott goes.

I take my Boxer out from time to time and he loves it. Pretty much just relaxes and does not bother me much.

Yup, she fishes.  Course i rag on my wife I'm going to tie her off and use her as bait sometimes. She's still a little unsure what to think of fish, but she's always trying to lick em and drag em off if I give her a chance with them.
