Missouribassman95 Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 These last two weeks I think I've only caught a few fish per trip. I have tried fishing jigs around weeds and docks and fishing t-rigged plastics around any visible cover. I just can't seem to find the numbers or sizes I caught even at the begginning of July. we've had some extreme tempuraturs ,so that's the only thing I can think of. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted August 2, 2010 Super User Posted August 2, 2010 Yep, it's the heat, and the fish have been seeing the same presentations over and over again. Blew my last tourney. Had #'s but no size. I blame myself for sticking with my prefish strategy (which worked during prefish)and refusing to try something different at crunch time. I've been fishing different water to try and get out of my "habit" fishing which isn't working right now. Today I learned that the bass are suspended, and not sitting in the slop or under docks. I am going to transfer this knowledge to my regular fishin' hole which I have a tourney next Sunday. (current conditions have been No Wake since last Monday due to high rainfall levels) WHOOPEEE! Super User roadwarrior Posted August 2, 2010 Super User Posted August 2, 2010 Find structure in deeper water and try smaller presentations. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1280746059/1#1 8-) Quote
Super User Raul Posted August 2, 2010 Super User Posted August 2, 2010 Move away from the shallows and seek for them in the deeper water, a good place to start would be along where the weedbeds begin, the weeds grow only as deep as they can get enough sunlight and where they no longer grow it means there 's deeper water. Okay that makes sense, thank you. Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted August 3, 2010 Super User Posted August 3, 2010 I've been going to different presentations. At the beginning I was hitting them pretty good on jigs w/chunk or grub trailers. When the summer heat came, the jig bite really slowed down for some reason and I went to top water (lots of fun). That bit slowed and now I'm finding a slow rolled spinnerbait hugging the bottom is the ticket. So, I guess, keep mixing it up is the key. IMHO Quote
Super User bilgerat Posted August 3, 2010 Super User Posted August 3, 2010 I'm finding them buried deep under the scum mats. Gotta punch through with something or call them up with a frog. Quote
