Yes, I've caught the same fish three times; twice in one day a few weeks back and then once yesterday.  She lives in the same spot and I know it's the same fish because of a dark spot on the gill plate.

i caught a little maybe 13" bass on a brush hog. the fish picked it up and swam off quickly with the bait. which tells me it was competing for food. he had a large scar and a messed up mouth. my buddy then threw a crank in the same spot literally seconds after i released him and caught him again lol same scar and same messed up mouth...... judging by his mouth he has been caught several times...? maybe not the brightest crayon in the box :)

well, I was fishing a shore tourny, during spawning season. I knew where a big fish was on a bed. I caught the buck, then the female(7.1#'s), and then caught the female again, The the buck agian. I was hoping she would bite agian cause all my other fish had left but she did not and 16.5 and 4 fish was enough to win and big fish. so yes I have twice in a day(really about 4 cast.).

ok this is going to sound a little cruel at first but we have rule on the lake i grew up on that states all green sun fish must be removed when caught. so we would cut them in half and throw them back in for the cats to eat.... well one day I was board and cut of every fin and then threw the little sucker back.... caught him again 3 months later no fins and all.... them little green suckers are tough

Thats pretty cool how that fish could have survived that long with no fins.

I have caught the same catfish multiple times in one day and my buddy caught a bass that had just broke his line and he got his hook back.

I have, I took a jaw band off a fish, then in 10 minutes caught that fish again on a different lure, Had the marks from the jaw band freshly being taken off.

An old post but I had this phenomena happen to me today. It's been pretty crappy fishing for the past due to heavy storms. Went out Friday and caught a pretty hefty sized smallmouth bass in the river. Then when I was out today fishing before work I caught another smallmouth and I swear he had the same hook mark from the previous hookset.

This bass lives around a sunken dock on Little Lake Harris.  This dock is not visible from the surface.  I've caught and released this same fish numerous times.  Never on the same day.  I know it's the same fish as it has distinctive markings.  Over the years this fish has grown from about 5 pounds to 8.  Haven't caught her in awhile.

Not that I know of on the same day, but I caught the same bass repeatedly over the course of 3 years. It was a 4-pounder and had a distinctive mouth injury, probably from someone ripping the hook out of it when it was younger.

I probably caught that bass 30 - 40 times during those three years.  It didn't even put up much of a fight. I guess it thought here we go again, let's get it over with as soon as possible

Wading a gravel bar just below a prime pinch point during a peak white bass and shad run, I caught the same largemouth 7 times in one morning.

Couldn't miss him, because he had a scar on his head.

The flagstone strata was black with tiny shad, and every step you took, a white footprint would open up for you.

Also caught a 20" male white bass that day - 4-y-o, they're kind of rare - I've only caught five of them in my life.

I’ve hooked the same bass two casts in a row on two different occasions. Both times the line broke on the hook set and I caught the fish on the next cast with my lure from the previous cast  still stuck in its mouth

This happened to me too. We were going down a bank, both throwing white soft jerks and my buddy broke off on one. Jokingly, I said, "Don't worry, I'll get him" and threw at the same stump.

I caught that fish with my buddy's hook and bait still stuck to his face

Didn't we laugh!

My brother and I caught the same fish … on the same trip about 30 minutes apart. It had a very distinctive scar that couldn’t be missed.

Fought a 2# smallie to the boat and had it shake off at boatside. Rigged another wacky worm, threw it back into the same current break, and landed the same fish with half of the first worm sticking out of it's gullet.

What's encouraging from this discussion is the assurance that bass aren't affected by pain like we are. I know we've been over this but a little piece of me always wonders.

If you count PB Brown Trout, then yes I have caught that fish twice in 30 minutes! I haven’t caught any bass that I know I have caught twice.

I caught one 4 pounder 6-7 times off my dock. I couldn’t help but catch him.  I called him “ Lucky “ .  I didn’t see him anymore after the last time. Maybe he finally got fed up with all the fake meals .?

Caught this one 10 months apart. I have more photos and the scale pattern on the tail and back and near the eye are perfect matches. He also has a badly wounded mouth on the other side. No doubt the same fish.

Caught him in a creek in the same hole twice.

I've caught bluegill twice, and also a river striper. With the second catch of the striper I was able to remove my previous hook, plus the one I'd just caught it with. Catches were about 30 minutes apart. That one was kinda weird I thought, being in a river.

I've caught the same fish twice in the same day, on the same bait. It had a severely damaged spine so it was easy to recognize. Caught on a Bitsy Bug jig off a stump in a pond twice in the same day.

Last year, I caught the same fish twice in 2 weeks. First time on a Hoodaddy, second time on a Black Canoe balsa crankbait, about a mile further up the creek.

This winter, I caught the same fish twice 3 weeks apart. First time on a shakyhead with a Berkley Flute worm, second time on a Strike King HTC 1.5 flat sided crank, about 50 yards from where I originally caught it.

One season a while back, I actually caught the same fish four times. Once in April, twice in July and again in September.  Small, 60 acre natural lake. A torn lip that never closed up when it heald left no doubt it was the same fish

I absolutely caught the same dink bass twice in the same spot about an hour apart while I was fishing with a guide. It looked like it had survived some trauma because it was crooked as a question mark. I told the guide he should keep it the second time because it was obviously trying to commit suicide.

Oh yes for sure.  One day at Loxahatchee I was throwing a Fluke when I hooked a fish and during the fight the line broke off.  An hour later I passed back through the same area and caught a two pound bass with my #3 Gama hook and an inch of floro line still attached to its lip.  Still willing to eat!

I just realized I've caught this fish at least THREE TIMES! I'm watching a video from 2 months ago. Same part of the creek again, same poor fish. I'd post a pic but it's the wrong side of the fish. I recognized the large missing piece of mouth on its other side. Like its whole mouth is kinda gone.

Bass no, catfish yes.  We were fishing in a cove with timber in it, and got bit on cut shad.  While bringing the fish in it got behind a stump and broke off.  We moved to the other side of the cove and caught the same cat, but this time got it to the boat.  It had our hook in it's mouth and about 3 other older hooks.

Not on the same day, but I caught a fish my kid caught maybe 4-5 days earlier. It was clearly caught several times and had very unique scaring on the jawline, so no doubt it was the same one.
