Do any of you have any other fishing superstitions that you believe in?, or am I the only one. I actually have two.

MOJO/JOOJOO : I belive that it we have good JOOJOO on that day, before we go fishing, we catch a lot of fish; and my results errily back it up. But if you have bad JOOJOO/MOJO, you have a bleak and subpar day on the water, catching maybe 1, 2, or 3 fish.

Examples: Good JOOJOO: You order a small Biscuit breakfast at McDonalds, When you get your meal through the drive through window, you receive a large drink and 2 sandwiches. Yumm LOL :)

Bad JOOJOO: You order a Medium #2 (whatever that is,) and when you get your food and drink through drive through, you spill your drink all over you and your food is cold and sucks.

I also believe in the first cast curse; when you catch a fish on your first cast; you never catch a fish again at that body of water, which my and my fathers results eerily back up also.

Do you have any? ;D

I am one of the most superstitious people in the world when it comes to sports. I don't have many for fishing but thats because I haven't heard of many. Therefore, I will not check this post ever again so I won't learn any new ones. ;)

You'll probably notice patterns in your fishing days that, well, may be Superstitious  :)

Same tee shirt, sweatshirt, shorts and hat. I have a matching set for 2 day tournaments. Plus I've kept 2 small toys in my boat that the kids brought on when they were real little. They've been in the tackle locker for 9 years.

If the alarm has to wake me up to go fishing... I should just stay in bed. Usually I'm up a good half hour before I plan to get up when I know I'm going fishing!

Keep the banana's out of the boat... Still don't know where that came from but it's so funny :P

EDIT: Actually, one day we went to Walker Lake... It was calm and a perfect day when we left. As soon as we got to the lake, it was super windy and the trolling motor wouldn't get us anywhere because of the wind (we had to get out and walk the boat to shore, couldn't even get it back to the launch). Guess what we had with us that day? 2 banana's!

Not a big fan of catching a fish on the first cast of the day-I've had some pretty awful days after that although it beats not catching any fish at all

BTW, the banana superstition comes from the days when the Spanish ruled the Central and South America areas. They would load the boat with bananas-well some of those boats sank but the bananas floated and floating bananas was always a marker for a sunk ship

We could have sunk that day will how big the waves were (we were using a little rowboat with a trolling motor). If I didn't keep the front into the waves, it would almost flip us... I think the banana superstition  is a fact... NO BANANA'S PEOPLE!

True, But thats more proof for me my thougths are realistic! ;D

my fishing hat, a berkley lightning rods hat has one of those hat hooks on it and the hook has to go on my left side when wearing it or else there will be no fish for me that day

If I am creek fishing and find a golfball I always get hit within 5 casts so I pretty much carry a golf ball with me everytime and I always pick them up.

On the bananas I had one on the boat the other day and my buddy kept hookin fish but they would shake loose when they got close to the boat. I ate the banana threw the peel over board and then caught 3 that were each 3 1/e

How interesting... No wonder my son was hollering about floating bananas the other day on the boat.  I had no idea what he was talking about.  Thought he was just being silly. Must be something he picked up in school.

I know I have a bunch of superstitions, but the only one I can think of at the moment is having a woman on-board means good luck (well... depending on the woman and whether she fishes or not).

Another one i have is that in the car ride to the water i have to sing this song i made up, Its sort of a spoof to "Rock'n Me" by The Steve Miller Band.

" I tossed out a (insert any lure here) maybe 50, 60 yards reeling slowly now finessin' pigs, Theen one big 'ol largie came out of the weeds and inhaled my lure deep down, Keep on a haulin' 'em piggies, keep on a haulin' 'em piggies " It doesnt sound good unless you can get the tune right :)

Here we go;

I get dressed and put my shoes on the sameway everytime I get up early to fish. (3:30am)

Then i'm very very very stealthy and make no noise when i'm at my fishing spot.  I even got blackbears and bigfoot beat when it comes to being stealthy.

Trust me i got bear and bigfoot stories too.  ::)

the fish on the first cast is especially true for me.

I skip a quarter over the surface of the water before my first cast. The more skips it makes, the better the fishing.

I can ALMOST 100% agree. But there have been days when I've killed it from first to last cast

i think when dragonflys or damselflies fly on me or my rod or if im in a kayak or belly boat it helps my determination and even rewards me with a  fish sometimes  ;D

Superstitions are just that Superstitions!

You are going to have good days and bad days alike it does not matter what you wear or what you do.

Your day or night is dependant upon your attitude and determination to find and catch fish.

I am not a believer in luck or any of that other stuff I just simply go fishing and be thankful for what I have been given.
