helms83 Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Everyone talks about pre-fishing and during fishing, but what do you do after your day of fishing to prepare for your next trip? I don't own a boat yet (hopefully after my next deployment, I'll buy a basstracker ), but I have a trolling motor; there's a smaller lake to rent jon boats, so I hook it up. But post trip, I clean off my trolling motor, reorganize my tackle boxes, clean my lures, check the hooks, cut off any line left on my lures, check rods/reels/line, and will recharge my battery the night before the next trip. What do you do or don't do? Quote
cufishin Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Wow, now that I'm getting a bit older I don't do much after fishing except get the boat put away, get something to eat and fall asleep in the recliner. All that cleaning and prep work will still be there when I have more motivation and energy. Quote
Shad_Master Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 I hook the charger up right away to keep the batteries in shape - with my level of luck, I also open the hatches to let them dry out from the rain :'( - the rest can wait 'til after the nap Quote
Super User Catt Posted July 11, 2010 Super User Posted July 11, 2010 During the drive back home I'll replay the day in my mind dwelling on the positive, between trips I do a ton of map studies and read my journals. Quote
Super User Paul Roberts Posted July 11, 2010 Super User Posted July 11, 2010 I do the same as Catt describes. I carry a voice recorder with me during the trip. I used to carry a little notebook, and still do for mapping. Nothing like visuals for mapping, and for quantifications (data). But there's nothing like voice recordings for all the details and epiphanies of the trip. After 30 years of journaling, I realize I start re-writing history the moment I'm off the water. Memory is a strange thing. It appears to be a tool we adapt to needs that can stretch beyond the facts. The facts are a requirement; Interpretations subject to change. Quote
