Super User Goose52 Posted June 16, 2010 Super User Posted June 16, 2010 If you check the "Other Fish Species" forum you'll find another thread similar to this one... Anyway, while fishing for bass with a 7'mf BC rod, 10lb mono, and a lipless crank, I foul-hooked and, after 35 minutes, landed a 37.1lb grass carp. A week later, I had another hook-up on another that was probably even larger - 40, 50lbs, who knows. After 13 minutes, and with 80 yards of line off the reel, that fish wrapped the line around a rock and broke off. Quote
Redhed Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 c-rigging a fluke and catch blues or other catfish. crank bait fishing and catching decent sized crappie along deep ledges and rock walls along the bank (water depth from 5-30ft) my cousin was C rigging last year with me in his john boat type boat and he caught a 28lb carp. it dragged us around that cove for a good 10 mins before it wore out.. we netted it and took pics. fun time.. we were hoping for a huge catfish. Super User Sam Posted June 16, 2010 Super User Posted June 16, 2010 40-pound bull redfish in Louisiana when I was a teenager. Went out to the Chandelier Islands with uncle and cousins on uncle's 46-foot yacht pulling two 16-foot skiffs. Great fishing. Always hoped we did not run into shrimp or uncle would have us shrimping all weekend. And that is a lot of work. Usually pick up around 400 pounds of shrimp plus having to stop to repair the nets. Hooked into some fish that just decided to make a run for it so cousins and I went for a ride in the skiff until the line broke. Happened many times. All we did was hold onto the rod and pull up the stick-up pole and head out into the Gulf. Lots of fun and great memories. Quote

Super User Jigfishn10 Posted June 16, 2010 Super User Posted June 16, 2010 2008 Ford F150 on a missed hook set. Caught the drivers side mirror on a lipless crankbait. It spooled me. Does that count? Quote
kms399 Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 I caught a 45" muskie on a bandit footloose in white. Hit just like a bass too just a little tap and it was coming towards me so I never felt much for weight, when it got to the boat I think we both saw each other at the same time cause I was like and the fish bolted under the boat just about broke the rod cause it smacked the side before I managed to disengage the reel. I fought it for 4-5 minutes before i got it in. by the time I picked the fish up I looked around and saw that I had an audience of like 5 different boats watching me catch this fish. that was the biggest fish I have ever caught and also my first muskie. A guy I fish with has caught a 36" Northern Pike (Never seen one before or since, but it was a Pike. Not a Tiger Muskie, or any 'Skie, but a Pike.....) on a small Vibe...
