This is not meant in any disrespect, but i simply have a question. I am a long time member but do not post much, simply because i do not have much to say and i am not on the computer much. One thing i have come to notice is this site, to me, has gone from more in depth techniques to more beginner questions. This is no disrespect to anyone, but simply a question. Is this because i have learned more and have developed as an angler or do some of the other long term members seen this same trend. Thanks for any and all replies, logan

Actually it's a seasonal thing.  May, June, and July are the months when there's a larger number of beginning anglers than any other time of the year.

And December, January, and February are months where many member's water is frozen-over and there are all the "cabin fever" threads... ;D

How long has this site been here anyway?

Me personally I used to read Bass Master mags a lot but you have this wonderful thing called a computer that you can ask it questions and it spits out a web address for you to log into and instead of waiting for the next issue to come to your house you can get your answer right away.

And as a website gets more and more popular then you have more and more younger people who are computer friendly talking on it which to me is a good thing.

That to me means that these younger people who are spending their time enquiring about fishing are not out doing things that make us as parents worried...Well for the most part anyway.

That's just my thoughts.

On any forum you go to, and stay for a while, after some time you'll start to see the same questions over and over.  New members that come to the forum, and don't have much expereience, or even the experienced people that have questions, are going to ask things that may seem like simple questions to someone that has been around a while, and knows a little more.  Same way on the car forums I used to go to.

wonder what the first question post was.

My guess: What is the best...? ;)

Nah, it was probably about senkos, banjo minnows, helicopter lures, Acadia rods, or NAFC.

I don't know how long the actual site has been around but the domain has been around since March of 1998. Ah, I miss the way the web looked in the 90's :(

i think u guys should change the post count thing meaning the rank of your memberness. I mean u could just post a ton and then have it say been a member a really long time. It should be based on how long the person has been on here

Your right about that - but some times I wonder if newbies get frustrated at being chastised by long-time members of the forum or even the moderators.  It takes a while to get the hang of it and even some of us "been posting a long timers" get it wrong (at least according to the Mods).

Still one of the best places on the web and I do appreciate that the Mods do a lot of work (which by the way I'm not willing to do) but some times I think a lighter touch is better than a heavy hand.  Sort of like finesse fishing, I guess.

This is a borderline 'mod bashing' post. Keep it on topic Shad Master!  ;D

I think you have to be blunt and straight to the point to mod a forum. I think the saying "give them an inch and they take a mile" comes into play. You can't let stuff slide or hold their hand or they will expect it everytime (that would get hard to do for a lot of newbies). I try to answer everyones questions or at least point em in the right direction and let the mods handle the dirty work :P I've been crawling the interwebs for a really long time and I still mess up.... I've even had 2 threads deleted in the past month haha (sorry whoever killed the one day.... forgot it was sorta an advertisement)...

Anyway, there will always be n00bs, some will get it right, some will never learn, just have to deal with it.

Yes, nOObs will be nOOb's, but, how hard is it to check out the FAQ'S..? We've all been there done that. For most ?'s the search feature will help alot IF folks used it.. ;D I don't have a problem answering the same question 3 or 4 times in a months. It does get old after awhile. We were all nOObs at 1 time, well, cept for Catt and a couple of others.. :D

I think we should do our best to help those who in turn will be helping others in the future. There's nothing good about being sarcastic when you answer a nOObs question, better to let someone else try.

So...that's my story, and I'm sticken to it.. 8-)

I agree, but I also think that regardless of the FAQ's, most new members pose a question as a way of gaining some interaction; testing the waters, so to speak.  Anyways, more power to the site and it's many members.  Keep on keepin' on! 8-)

I agree, I should have said. If they have a question that's been asked/answered 10 times, they could maybe think of of another question, or topic to interact with.. ;D

Actually it was a question about how to choose the right prop for your boat.

i'm a new member and a new angler as well, and i have seen quite a few questions that could've been answered if the person read a few of the articles on this site.  i just think some people aren't as resourceful as others, and some just don't want to spend the time looking for the information they need.
