Let's say I wanted to start my own bait company. I want all the plastics to have all my own designs. How does a person go about getting these custom molds made? Also, what is the price range for things like this? And where do you get the plastics, flakes, scents to put in them? Thanks in advance

Del-Mart molds with make you laser cut, aluminum custom molds.  They are pricey, and take a little extra time to make, but they last a lifetime and your baits will always come out with the glossy finish.  I also order all my material from Del-Mart, but you can also find it other places like Barlows and Jann's Netcraft.

Is doing this way cheaper in the long run?

Custom molds can run from as little as $100 each or as much as $500 depending on design and amount of cavities.

I order my stuff from Bear's and Lure Craft.

Senko pretty much summed it up as best as anyone could haha. I tried to do this a few times. I have about 20 designs on paper and some modeled in 3d (along with the mold models). I know a guy with a cnc machine so my molds weren't included in this cost, but for me to start up, get all the tools and materials (and pay the $75 to get a business name in pa) it was around 2500 dollars. This was for 5 gal. Of plastic, a bunch of color, scent and flake, misc. Tools (gloves, pots, etc...) and bags and coffin cases.

I recommend lure craft, delmart and bears baits, they all helped me a lot. Check out tackleunderground.com also, you will find everything you need to start over there.
