How often do you double up on one lure?

Until this afternoon, I have never had two fish get hooked onto my lure at the same time. However, not only did i get two fish on the same lure at the same time, but within 5 casts later I had it happen again, it was WILD! Just wondering how often it happens that two fish hookup on the same lure at the same time, and if anybody has ever had a "Double-Double" like I did today?

On swimbaits I know of people who have had two DD's at the same time.  I have had it happen with smaller fish a few times.

I have hooked two fish on the same crankbait twice over the years. Both times one came unbuttoned at the boat. The first time both fish were in the 15-16" range. The last time they were both dinks.

that was my second double. the smaller fish went 2.33 and i tossed the larger before realizing that I hadnt weighed it as well, but he was about the same size as the other, just a hair larger

last week a 5 and a 3 pounder on a dd22....

Been awhile, early eighties, use to fish a creek of a big lake ,found an area stacked with fish, at a section where an arm previously branched off the creek and then the arm returned to the creek. The Old BOMBER LONG A would work its magic.  Would have a double occur at least once a day. But this was an area that gave up numerous fish. Was preseason and underwater sloping point 3-12ft. Of course it was catch and release as always.

Rarely, it's happened  maybe a half of dozen times over the years. A three on the rear treble and a four on the front treble years ago fishing a rogue on Rayburn. Has not happened in quiet a few years though.

I hooked two minnows when I was using a Rapala Slashbait. I was surprised that I matched the hatch so well because they were the exact same size, color and shape as the lure I had on. I've never hooked 2 bass at once though

I find "often" far fetched and hard to believe.  VERY often?  All I can say is that you know how to fish topwater my friend!  What are your favorite topwater lures?

3 times in over 20 years of fishing. All the fish were 12 -18 inches, always on a pond with a Bandit crankbait.  Always fun    ;D

I had it happen twice on the same day. 

The first time, I was using a jerkbait and while I made my last jerk by the boat, I saw a Largemouth come from the left and a smallmouth come from the right and they both hit the lure at the same time.  I set the hook on them both.  It was funny to watch, because the smallmouth dominated the fight with the largemouth looking like he was along for a ride. 

Later that day, I felt a hit on the jerkbait, set the hook and then 2 seconds later felt what seemed like another hit.  When I pulled it in, two largemouth were on the lure.  I assume after the first LM hit, the second one tried taking the lure out of his mouth.

The funny thing is that I have been fishing for 23 years now and those are the only two time that has happened to me, which were within 2 hours of each other on the same day.

ive had it happen a few times on LC Sammys and a time or two on pointers but ive never had a double more then once in a day on the same "Single lure" and a few times on other hard jerk baits. and once on a rapala SR5 shad rap this time it was amazing both fish were 4-5# fish...... they was both little monsters! by # I dont mean pounds I mean Oz's lol they are tiny little guys lol They was so small in fact there was no way either one could have ate a real bait fish even close to that size and im pretty sure thats why it was a double!! they probably was brothers and used to catching one big minnow together and sharing it! lolol ;D ;D

Now ive caught MANY doubles on a double fluke rig when small bass are schooling and busting shad on top... Ide say on that rig ive had as many as 10 doubles in a day

Yesterday I doubled up twice during the police/firefighter games tournament. First time I had a keeper 14.5" and a short 13', both on a crank bait no bigger than my thumb. When I got them to the surface, I saw one was swimming upside down. Fortunately the keeper unhooked itself in the net. That was my irst time ever doubling up on a lure.

The second time was about an hour later, with two little dinks, but I told my husband to get a photo regardless of how little they were.
