are awesome. I haven't been throwing soft plastics much lately, opting for spinnerbaits and wakebaits mostly. While I set the hook with those, it is not quite the same. Today I caught one on a senko, and when that line goes sideways and you cross that fish's eyes, there is nothing like it. To me, it is the best feeling in fishing. :)

Interesting. The last few trips I've caught dozens and dozens of fish on senkos and other plastics got to a point I was looking for a something different and went vertical. I think that's key to the fun of the sport, variety.

for me it's setting the hook on a fish while frogging, when you're in the thick stuff, you get the all clear to go all out haha. and watching the strike is fun too.

nothin quite like the "tap tap tap" on the end of your line when your worm fishin and you get ready and say to your buddy " watch this" and you whack it, perfect in the upper jaw. :)

I went fishing last night and used my new BSR 803 for tossin' a 10" power worm with 30lb PP and a 5/0 Superline EWG Gammy. Love at first fish! Theres nothing better for me than the feeling of a big ol fish on a spinning rod suckin in that worm and then just waitin for the moment. SSSHH! There he is! WHAM! I love summertime.

Heck yeah. Lately been catching a ton of smallies and LMB on 5 inch watermelon senkos and 3.5" tubes. So awesome watching the line tick or start to run a bit then *WHAM* perfect hookset.

:)

i love throwin a senko and feeling that tap tap or a u start reeling in your slack and your line is going sideways and u feel the tug when u set that hook and when u get the fish in that 3/0 gamakatsu wide gap hook is coming through his mouth and out of the front of his gillplate  8-)

I had to tone down my hook sets with braided line..was snappin it. :-?

Let me guess... Improved clinch knot. :)

Try something that double loops through the eye of the hook or using a straight shank snell knot.

My favorite hook set happened when i was about 8. I was wacky riggin a little french fry on a cheap lightning rod and when i swung away i hit my dad and snapped my pole. So i persisted to bring him in buy pulling on the line really hard. That my first fish bigger than my forarm at the time and from that point on i was "hooked" on bass fishing. Pun intended! :D

I also use Texas rig with senkos a lot. IMHO I have to say that's the best hookset EVER. I set the hook and mean it everytime. I have set the hook with smaller fish on the end of the line and ended up pulling them across the top of the water like a jet ski.  :-[

I love those Texas rig and Jig hooksets.  I have had dreams where I feel the bite and then wake myself up when jerking.  Scares the crap out of my woman too.
