I Love BassResource Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 Has anyone tried any of these knock offs? Do they suck? http://www.predatorbassbaits.com/id85.htm They're pretty cheap, so I thought about buying a couple to paint and play around with. Quote
Super User Raul Posted April 1, 2009 Super User Posted April 1, 2009 Well, you can 't have a DT "knock off" made of plastic from a WOOD bait can you ? Quote
I Love BassResource Posted April 1, 2009 Author Posted April 1, 2009 Sure you can, that's why its a knock off. Its not the real thing, albeit a preferred knock off would be made of wood. Quote
Ima Bass Ninja Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 A genral rule of thumb I use when I consider knock-offs is what the actual differance is. If the only difference is the design maybe slightly different(it only takes 1 little change before they can market it) then i will give it a try provided all the materials are the same. If they have different materials then no way should you give it a go. Quote
Super User skunked_again Posted April 1, 2009 Super User Posted April 1, 2009 Well, you can 't have a DT "knock off" made of plastic from a WOOD bait can you ? maybe the DT knock-offs wont break. still taking a risk i think. Quote
Steven Ladner Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 The price isn't too bad, just give them a try. I bought a couple to paint, but haven't had a chance to try them. Quote
NEKvt Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 Bought a couple of these to paint also. If they suck they will be my practice baits for new paint patterns. If they catch fish that is even better. Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 I'm gonna get some of those to paint as well. Those megabass griffon knock offs look pretty good. Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted April 2, 2009 Super User Posted April 2, 2009 The price is right, and shipping is cheap, so why not give them a try? If they don't work out, like you said, you have something to practice on. You never know, they might be decent baits. Falcon Quote

whittler Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 Dave, if you will check, before postingyou will find the problem was not with eyes he sold but with eyes he was buying. The baits sold on that site are pretty good quality and work well, for the price, they are not however Lucky Craft. Quote
whittler Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 Dave, HE was the customer not the seller. You are dealing, quite likely with a man's livelyhood and business. Statements like those are better left unsaid until you do have some experience. Quote
NEKvt Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 Just got mine in the mail today. They look good. Excited about getting some paint on them. I got the jerkbait, and the LC knockoff as well, both seem like they will fish. Quote
Super User Sam Posted April 3, 2009 Super User Posted April 3, 2009 When you want to buy jewelry, you go to a professional jeweler, not Wal-Mart. When you want to buy a gun, you go to a well known and professional gun store, not Wal-Mart. When you want to buy top of the line fishing tackle you go on-line or to a professional tackle shop, not knock-offs. (You all thought I was going to say Wal-Mart, didn't you?) Forget the knockoffs, other than for the Banjo Minnow, and you will always be pleasantly pleased. Quote
