Me and a buddy were fishing a creek today recently flooded by the backup of the mississippi. anyways we saw these 3 odd looking fish chasing each other around in a circle.  We know for a fact that they werent catfish and knew that werent carp becuase the had realy broad mouths much like a large mouth bass. but the thing is i didn't see any marking of a large mouth bass either no black stripe or anything..realy odd.. any thoughts? lol  :D

Could have been largemouths... I've caught them before and they were completely silver (no markings or green color). This of course was because they were deep and in cold water, but ddifferent things in their environment can make em change colors.

Check out bowfins.

They do this in shallow water in Virginia's tidal rivers.  :)

Ah, a clue.  Was the water really muddy?  I mean really, really muddy compared to it's normal color?  If so, then the bass will lighten up in color dramatically.  They'll be pale in comparison to normal colors, and look "washed out".  Their markings will be faint. So the black stripe will be barely noticeable.

Perhaps that's what you witnessed.

Carp are spawing in your neck of the woods right now. They chase each other in shallow water all day long when they are spawning.

I caught some strange pimk and white fish that looked like sunfish or carp during a rain storm or should i say between the hard and soft rain in kind of a lull in the storm.  I was fishing one of my hot spots and using a joesfly 1/4oz bass size in firetiger apache and i caught these two between 19 bass from the same spot from shore.  I know this place has salmon, perch and very big pickerel(30") too besides lots of fat bass.

The only time I've seen fish do this was when i was fly fishing up in the mountains about a year ago and these 2 nice sized trout were just chasing eachother in a neverending circle
