rowyourboat Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 what are some good lures/tactics to try around weeds that grow near the bank. say anywhere from 1-6 feet of water. water is fairly clear, maybe a little off color. i caught 5 last time on the fat ikas. any other ideas ??? Quote
Nice_Bass Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 sluggo top water. Anything else may have to know what kind of weeds? Quote
rowyourboat Posted June 10, 2010 Author Posted June 10, 2010 umm, im not really up on my weed identification lol... but its just little strips/patches of weeds that grow right next to the bank and go out in the water 4-5 feet. they arent extremely thick. Quote
Hook Set Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 I like to fish crankbaits in weeds and rip em out when they catch the weeds. Quote
SmokeRise1 Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 Rage Toads and Rage Shads. Cast em into the weeds and just drag em across the top like a buzz bait. Fish often hit when the bait clears the weeds and hits open water. Hold on... Quote
Super User J Francho Posted June 10, 2010 Super User Posted June 10, 2010 Jigs, Texas rigs, frogs, toads, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, spooks, chatterbaits, Carolina rigs, shky heads, flick shakes, wacky rigs, all excel in weeds. Find the grass, find the bass. Quote
Ol Dirty Basstard Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 If it's Acapulco Gold, I throw a Stanley Ribbit. If it's Maui Wowie I like a white swim jig. If it's Texas Tea, then it's a fat ribbon-tail, Tex-posed naturally. If it's Panama Redforget it; you'll just be sittin' back in the grass watching everyone else catch bass anyhow. Quote
Super User bigbill Posted June 11, 2010 Super User Posted June 11, 2010 Weedless Lures!!!!! I'm fishing from shore too!!! Mepps Timber doodle; I let it fall into the small open pockets in the weeds. Mister Twister Top Prop; I run it over the weeds and pause sometimes too, it will drop the plastic trailer down and the fish will strike it. Scum Frogs Spooks Carolina rig with a 1/8oz weight 3' leader floating worms fished topwater. BPS topnocker Buzzbaits Spinnerbaits; Fished with the rod tip up so the spoon will beat / slap the water. Don't let the weeds stop you from fishing. There's more baits out there than i listed. I have most of them. In my first year of bass fishing i thought i hit a brick wall when the weeds came. I did a search for weedless stuff and fought back and won!!!!!! Trust me its a whole new ball game but its fun when we figure it out. Try different presentations too. Very slow has been the best. CAdeltaLipRipper Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 Fluke. Can't go wrong with a stickbait like a Senko or Ocho. Bringing a spinnerbait through them might trigger a strike to,depending on how thick it is Quote
