Delaware Valley Tackle Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 To me that's one of the best things about this forum. You can get totally new ideas, but also makes you think about better ways to employ tactics you already use. Quote

Super User Fishing Rhino Posted June 10, 2010 Super User Posted June 10, 2010 Welcome to today's duh club. I've stuck to the small hook drop shot rig for no good reason I can think of. That is so unlike me. All my life I've tried to build better mousetraps at whatever I do. I love tinkering and experimenting. Why I "played by the rules" for drop shotting is beyond me. Maybe because it worked so well. Now I'm wondering how many of the missed strikes I could have hooked. Oh what might have been. Well, I'm going to find out. Quote

I have been fishing over 50 years and can't believe all the new things I've learned on this forum. It's also helped me remember some techniques from the past. Quote

Not exactly d-shot nor jigging spoon in my case, Rapala jigging jerkbait, yup that kinda stuff them northern guys use to fish through holes in the ice, there ain 't a lot of iced lakes in my neck of the woods, one of those what if ? moments Quote
Super User J Francho Posted June 10, 2010 Super User Posted June 10, 2010 Here's some irony for you. I've left fish that simply would not bite a drop shot, tube, or jig. Two days later, say to myself, "Why didn't you try a shorty spoon!!!!!" Quote
Super User Catt Posted June 11, 2010 Author Super User Posted June 11, 2010 Its not like I wasn't catching on those spots but with ability to offer two techniques instead of one I've greatly increased my odds of catching. Quote
bear7625 Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 We are all creatures of habit. Sometimes we just have to force our selves to try a different technique. When I fish a certain type of structure, I try to have another technique in mind to try. That doesn't always work if your catching fish. Quote
