FutureSoldier Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 I've been known to toss people out my boat Well I hope to never end up on a boat with you. ;D Quote
triglet Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 when the fishing is slow my cousin usually take his cigarette and burns your line when your not looking. usually takes a couple pulls before you catch on what has happened. this favor is returnable lol Quote
Super User Nitrofreak Posted June 8, 2010 Super User Posted June 8, 2010 My buddy and I went fishing in the dead of winter and he some how managed to get my windshield off of my side of the boat with out me knowing it and stashed it and convinced me it was stolen...you can imagine the words. So I had to drive around all day with no shield...Froze my face off !!! Needless to say after finding out it was a joke the next trip out I took the adjusting shims out of all of his bait casters and then I tied a wind sock to the front of his boat and taped the rope down the center of the hull so couldn't get on plane... He figured out the wind sock after a few attempts but he couldn't figure out why he was catching trees the rest of the day. ;D 1 Quote
dave Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 set my drag real low so it made dinks seem like monsters Sooooo, you were pranking yourself? :-? The fish? Quote
TN basstracker Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 There was a group of us on a trip down Guntersville and we have the one guy who is the perpetual 'know it all', one-upper, can't stand to be out caught by anybody, has the latest and greatest most expensive toys.....you get the picture. Guy means well, but most of us in the group can only take so much of this guy before we're ready to shut him up ourselves. We were having a friendly little tournament and he had just bought a brand new 21 ft Skeeter with a 225 V-Max. The night before I snuck out of the room and unplugged the extension cord going to his charger and flipped the kill switch on his boat under the throttle. The other guys were in on it and the next morning you should've seen him crying when the other 4 boats in the group blasted off and left him and his $40,000 toy sitting there. He was already complaining that he just knew he had plugged in his battery charger the night before. Said he fished for the first couple hrs with the trolling motor til it died and didn't think to check the kill switch until we had about an hour left til we all met up! Quote
timothy_spain Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 Night fishing with some friends. Went down quite a ways, got in the water, then crept up to where one of my friend was fishing. Waited a while hiding in the reeds partially submerged in water, then popped up. OH, it was good. Quote
JacobK Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 splash some water with the rod tip, works every time. ;D Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted June 9, 2010 Super User Posted June 9, 2010 nothing extreme. But it seems every trip we take, i (or someone else) will purposely hit anothers line while they are not looking and hear them freak out about this monster bite as they continue to set the hook like there was no tomorrow. They then quickly cast back out more intently and i just wait for the moment when they are not looking and quickly hit their line with my rod again. This is usually good for a few laughs every time. The worst thing about it is since everyone in our boat does it, it's never safe and everyone knows that it's not worth the consequences of not pulling and everyone falls victim to it. I just don't think this trick will ever die in our boat. X2!!! ;D My buddy thinks everything is a bite and I can do this multiple times on a single cast and then deny that it was me doing it if he asks. Quote
CaptMikeStarrett Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 Fishing an area called CBBT I set the depth finder in DEMO mode. 125 ft of water and fish everywhere I watched my fishing buddy scramble for a stingsilver and tie it on. He dropped it down and it was really only 9 ft of water. I watched him repeat the drop and check the depth finder four times before I burst out laughing. Capt Mike Quote

(='_'=) Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 #1 My partner and myself were in the motel room and he was calling the hogs. I couldn't sleep so I took his line on all his rods and looped it around each eye on the rods. Man you ought to have heard him the next morning trying to cast. ;D #2 The same scenario a few weeks later. I knew he would be on to me this time, so when he started calling I pulled off about 30 foot of line an cut it. I then held it with my thumb and reeled it back on. Next morning he checked his reels and we went fishing. At our first stop he picked up a buzz bait and let it rip ;D I have never seen a buzz bait go that far It must have went a 100 yards in the woods ;D its funny, i just looked for this thread because im bored at work, and just thought about doing exactly that to my fishing partner... so i wanted to see what other pranks you all have done... i have seen several, but still this one is one of the best, and one im definitely doing next weekend... Super User CWB Posted November 10, 2011 Super User Posted November 10, 2011 This wasn't exactly a prank but I have to share it. On the night I proposed to my wife, we were out in the boat fishing. I had put a bottle of Champagne in the livewell while she was in the house and had the ring in my pocket. We went out fishing after dinner as we always used to. Then I got the bright idea to put the ring on my line and reel it in and say "look what I caught" She thought I had a big bass but upon seeing the ring broke down in tears and said Yes. Looking back that might have been the stupidest thing I ever did. What if a pike grabbed it and bit it off? Oh well, it all worked out as we've been happily married for 18 years and married for 26. 1 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted November 10, 2011 Super User Posted November 10, 2011 Replaced a buddy's (eventual winning) creel in the livewell with sunfish and perch just before a weigh in. Quote
therevolution Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 My favorite prank is to yank someone's line while trolling. Since I am usually driving Everyone in front is looking forward while I can reach their lines and givem a good yank. The best part about this prank is that you can do it multiple times a day if you can act like you dont know whats happening. it is hard to not start laughing though. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted November 11, 2011 Global Moderator Posted November 11, 2011 If someone I'm fishing with is continually casting past that imaginary line that the guy in the back of the boat isn't supposed to cast past, I'll let my bait sit until they cast over my line and when I feel them pulling I give it a good jerk. It give me a little laugh and usually gets my point across to not cast so far in front of the boat Quote

Super User firefightn15 Posted November 14, 2011 Super User Posted November 14, 2011 I was the one pranked....a few years ago while musky fishing I had one rolling around my boat for several minutes. Every minute or two it would roll behind my back without me getting a look at it, and finally it happened, turned out to be an otter playing! Quote
Super User CWB Posted November 14, 2011 Super User Posted November 14, 2011 Ever see the movie Big Fish? You should. ???? That's one of my all-time favorite movies. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted November 15, 2011 Super User Posted November 15, 2011 You put the engagement ring on a line, and he put his ring on the line. And you both caught, LOL. Quote
Super User CWB Posted November 15, 2011 Super User Posted November 15, 2011 You put the engagement ring on a line, and he put his ring on the line. And you both caught, LOL. Gotcha. My wife isn't much of a moviegoer but she actually cried at the end of Big Fish when all the people he met throughout his life, that everyone thought were imaginary, came to his funeral. Still can't believe I did what I did. "Only" $1500.00 but for me way back then, it was alot. Wait, that's still alot today. Could get a few nice set-ups with that. Seriously, she's far and away the best catch I ever made. (just don't tell her) Quote
freebie Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 this fall a group of my saltwater buddies met up for a gathering at the cape cod canal. there was a big cookout right along the water. the bite that weekend had been horrible so far, everyone was waiting for the fall run to really blow up. we walked down about a quarter mile and dumped a huge bag of popcorn into the current(moves about 7 kts for those of you unfamiliar with it). once the popcorn reached our area the birds had found it. they were smashing the surface like crazy. well guys started scrambling for rods and running for the banks. the few of us involved just sat there and laughed while they casted on nothing for about 15 mins before realizing nothing was going on. brushhoggin Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 would've been hilarious if one of em would have hooked into an 50 striper Quote
Professional Overrun Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 I knew this guy(RIP) that would swim offshore with his buddy in florida. They would swim under the charter boats and big yachts that had lines in the water close to shore......they would tie lines together from opposite sides of the boat and then swim away..... Quote
