Every once in a while I will hook a smallie or largemouth with a Spinnerbait or wiggle wart and it will break off. Usually the fish will jump occasionally to try to throw the lure. Have any of you caught a fish with other, broken-off lures in their mouths?

I caught the same bass 3 times with my worm hook still in it's mouth until I read Glenn's hook removal thread ;)

Yes, several times. Actually a buddy and I were fishing a pond last year and he had a bass to break him off while he was throwing a floating worm, later in the evening he landed a bass and said check this out and he held the bass up revealing the floating worm still in the fish's mouth. That bass hit a t-rigged worm and still had the hook and worm in it's mouth from an hour earlier.

Happened twice in the last two days on Pickwick.  Caught a 15 inch Largemouth that someone had broken off their Carolina Rig on.  Had the 18 inch leader with swivel and the hook stuck in it's gullet with the lizard still there.  I unhooked it going through the gills and he swam off no problem.  That was Wednesday.

Yesterday I caught a 14 inch Smallmouth that had a hook with a big Gambler Craw type bait in it's gullet, which I removed as well.

I actually aquired a very nice brand new crank bait. bout a 4 lber with a brand spankin new crank in its throat. Put the bait in my box and the fish healthy and back into the water.

that's something I always wondered about. I think I could have filled all the tackle boxes in south jersey with all the gear I've lost.

Several times.

The last time I was out, my buddy had a fish break him off while using a baby brush hog.  I caught that fish a few hours later, and returned his baby brush hog to him.

I caught a 4.5 with a pop-r stuck in its gills, and then the next time i went to that pond i found the pop-r up against the bank.

It happened to me twice. I caught a smallie on a small french fry plastic and when I freed it from my hook, it spat out a beat up looking (as if it could have been partially digested?) 3" orange colored senko. Definitely not my senko!

I caught another bass with a robo worm that fell off of the hook and floated off as I brought in the fish.  Later that day, my fishing partner who was fishing with earthworms caught a bass that before releasing, spat out my roboworm.  :-?

Yes, I have. Once was a smallmouth with a tube jig and the others were deeply-hooked worm hooks in LMB mouths.

A while back, I had a little smallie saw me off on some granite rivers rocks after I hooked it with a white, 1/8 oz buzzbait. I had another identical lure and I tied it on and kept fishing, and the little guy kept slashing at this one with my other buzzer hanging from its lip. I wasn't able to catch the little guy again, but it was fun to watch.

I too, caught one last week with a worm+hook lodged in it's throat, I got my spinnerbait out and kindly removed the old hook, I bet being caught by me was the best thing that has happened to that sucker in a while. Poor fella.
