I've been caught in the rain numerous times and a variety of lures catch fish, just like they do when it's not raining. I fish a lot of topwater and I like using buzzbaits in the rain, although they're great lures under most conditions.

I had my best day ever in the rain! Boated about a dozen 5-6lb LMB, that day I caught well over 100 bass! Seriously sore thumbs, I had to switch after a while. I usually start with a 7.5 texas-rigged ribbontail worm but have also had great luck with topwaters also. Can't go wrong with a jig too. What do you mean, crazy to go fishin in the rain? I thought fish lived in water?! IMHO, the bite usually is better on a rainy day than a bluebird one.

Love throwing buzzbaits in the rain.  Rain stirs up micro organisms and other small edible life forms that live under mats and vegatation in the water.  Bait fish like these as food.  When bait fish get going and stired up, the bass get going and stired up.  Fun stuff.

I love fishing in the rain, because I think the fish bite better in the rain.

My favorite lures to throw are topwaters.

I really enjoy fishing in the rain.  Not crazy rain like they had on the roadtrip, but normal rain.  I love the sounds of it hitting the water, how flat the lake looks, etc etc.  That and the fishing down here really picks up with the cooler water on top.

To the bass it's a spritz. They love it! Me? I freak out about lightening and stuff. Really. I'm done.

I'm trying to get over it though; because I know rain brings oxygen to the lake, triggers feeding and makes a good situation for the buzzbait - my fave!

I actually bought my first rain suit this Spring. No joke. Dri Ducks, not Frogg Toggs, Nine Bucks! I hope to get wet this year.

Fishing in the rain is fine, but when that wind kicks up to 30mph, it can be devastating.

Topwater action can be solid, or suspending jerkbaits. Both presentations can be deadly with rain hitting the water.

It depends greatly on the definition of "rain", down south from mid May - August we will have afternoon thunderstorms dropping 2-4" of water an hour, fortunately they will only last a few hours. This kind of rain I aint fishing in mainly because these storms are associated with winds of 25-30 mph and lightening.

Now if we're talking south/southwest winds 5-11 mph, light misting rain to a drizzly, then you're talking one Cajun Boy's dream weather.

I like throwing spinner baits, rat-l-traps, or buzz baits but I would never ignore deep water structure.

I remeber working in Virginia during the summer back a few years ago and that would happen. It would be a touch and go situation. You certainly would like to fish, but you would never know what's coming with it.

Here, just before the summer storm would hit and about an hour or two into it would be very productive and then it would shut down. I would fish a spinnerbait in those situations.

It seems like the fish get so ampped up that they would hit an empty soda can if that's all you had.

"Thunder Boomers" as we call em will often turn a slow day into memory, either by fish caught or getting caught.

Some of the best days I've personally had fishing were in the summer in a nice, warm, light rain or sprinkle. Fish just seem to wake up and want to bite during the rain, IMO.

I love fishing in the rain, as long as there's no lightning of course.  I usually have two setups on the deck if I know they're going to be getting soaked.  One is a black buzzbait and the other is a large profile white frog, and I go straight to the lily pads with them.

I read this thread this morning, and was quite excited as it rained all day.  Got out of work, went straight to the water with my buzz baits, and got totally skunked.  I wanted to cry...

I'll take a rainy day over sunshine anytime.  I LOVE fishing in the rain.  My favorite lures are buzzbaits, ragetail shads, ragetail toads, and spinnerbaits.
