FishinTN Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 I made a post in the Southeast section, but in case ya don't check it out very often. Don't plan a trip to Ky lake this week. Coast Guard has closed the Tn river between pickwick and paducah to all rec. boating, due to the flooding. It's expected to crest around 10-11 feet over summer pool. Quote

Super User Tin Posted May 5, 2010 Super User Posted May 5, 2010 WOW, guess the other roadtrip to KY Lake must be coming to an end. Is Pickwick closed? Quote
Willzx225 Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Hmmm I wonder what this will do for the fishing around the first of June. I have been planning a trip there for the past year and hope it isn't too washed out when we get there. Anybody have any experience on KY Lake after a major flood like this? I know it floods similarly to Buggs Island in the springtime but I am wanting to learn more about ledge fishing. Quote
TN basstracker Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 WOW, guess the other roadtrip to KY Lake must be coming to an end. Is Pickwick closed? Pickwick is open. The closure starts at the Pickwick Dam on the river side and runs North 206 miles to Paducah, KY. Quote
CJ Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Don't worry about the fishing this june. The water will go back to normal and the fish will still go out to the ledges. There is an upside and a downside. The upside is that a lot of threadfin shad should get moved down here. The downside is that the high, stained water will hinder the growth of grass for the fall season. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted May 6, 2010 Super User Posted May 6, 2010 Word has it the KY lake RT guys were fishing a golf course...... from their boats! dick apparently was fishing in areas that according to his GPS graph, weren't part of the lake but dry ground!! Quote
1inStripes Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 I wonder if they were fishing small sandy pits? I generally find those places all over a golf course when I am there. Quote
bowfish12 Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 CG has opened up the lake from pickwick to the 68 bridge in Kentucky. Everything else from the 68 bridge up to the dam is still closed as well as barkley. Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted May 8, 2010 Super User Posted May 8, 2010 Gee, that must be really tough on the guys who decided to bail out of the BR Road Trip at Pickwick and fish KY Lake instead. :P Read the Road Trip thread. Quote

No, it wasn't. They were south of the closure. When I talked to them Wednesday, they had been on fish every day. Quote
R520dvx Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 Kentucky Lake is open except for about 2 miles next to the dam. Water is starting to drop .... Quote
