One good thing about the bad economy

I posted two years ago about a local sand quarry that had been bought by a developer. The lake on the property was one of the best fishing spots around, with plenty of 5 - 7 lb bass in the mix. Big pickeral too.

Well, the project apparently tanked. They never got beyond brush clearing and bulldozing roads for the construction vehicles. The "Coming soon" sign is all but weathered away. The construction office trailer is long gone. It's fishin' time again

Two years of virtually no fishing means the fish are nice and aggresive. I'm gonna enjoy this until the bitter end until (hopefully not) the next developer takes over the site.

Sounds like a nice little opportunity, but that's not the only good thing this recession has done for fishermen.

Have you seen the prices on repossessed boats?!?

We had the same issue with the pond that is on our plant property now....great fishing for years...filled from the local mine with the water that was used from the coal prep plant so it was always nice and warm.

Well once construction started...4 years of no fishing!!!

Man the 8 months me and two other guys had on the pond and all the lures lost and lines busted from wicked strikes and the monsters we pulled in was amazing!  That is until the new plant manager came and saw three of us in a 10ft Jon boat.....LOL  No fishing the pond anymore...dern us!
