Bassnajr Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 Hey all.... Was bed fishing yesterday when the wind kicked up big time. Out of sheer laziness, and an attempt for a little better control of my bait, I started throwing a jig to the beds...the bass did not like this at all!!! I got some killer reactions and caught some nice fish. When I think of site fishing, I don't usually think of jig fishing but????????? Quote
basspro215 Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 well I've never done any bed fishing but if it worked for ya keep doing it just let the fish go as soon as you take a pic of it so you know the bed will be safe from other fish Quote
Super User Nitrofreak Posted May 3, 2010 Super User Posted May 3, 2010 If you fish the beds and you throw a jig that potentially posses a threat to the bass like a perch colored bait they will annihilate it !!! So yes I will jig a fish bed but very slowly if you keep throwing a bait that is fished too fast the fish will not see it as a threat. BUT I ALWAYS catch and release bedded fish !!!!! Quote
Super User Catt Posted May 3, 2010 Super User Posted May 3, 2010 On the rare occasions I bed fish a Jig is my #1 weapon of choice...uh well maybe 2nd to a lizard Quote
Super User senile1 Posted May 3, 2010 Super User Posted May 3, 2010 Jigs, tubes, and lizards . . . . oh yeah. Quote
Super User WRB Posted May 3, 2010 Super User Posted May 3, 2010 Bass will attack any egg eaters that get near their eggs. Crawdads, minnows, bluegill, salamanders, carp are egg eaters. White/chartreuse jigs have been a standard bed lure for decades. WRB Quote
hookingem Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 Jigs are often very effective. This year I've been bed fishing a white chaterbait with a lake fork magic shad trailer and the bass absolutelly crush it! Slowly reel it up to their bed and then drop it in the bed lift it once to get that chatter going and let it drop back in they're bed and just watch them inhale the lure set hook hard and have fun Quote

tcain38 Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 I use a white hair jig for bed fishing. It works well and a bed fish does not like a jig in its bed. It will tick them off quicker than anything. Quote
