bassnbtom Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Hello everyone, I am currently in south GA and having some trouble finding a decent place to fish, so recently I've been stopping at random spots where I see trucks pulled at and see whats going on. I am from the north so mostly I would trout fish only occasionally fish for bass/pike. I really am starting to find a love/obsession with catching bass, and I was really hoping you guys could take a look at this spot I found and tell me whether I should even try for bass in here. It seems to be a really slow moving river, it really looked like the water was crawling/barely moving. Thanks for the help everyone. Also up the river a little there is tons of cover and objects in the water Quote
Big Fish Rice Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Might be, might not be. There's only one way to find out Quote

Red Bear Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 whats the name of the place? google that and see if you can find info on what type of fish it holds. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted April 29, 2010 Super User Posted April 29, 2010 Unless it goes dry at times or is salt water it will hold bass. Quote
egolfer Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Toss a little 4" senko in there and find out. That's how I test out new waters. Quote
Bobby Uhrig Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Ask Dozer-some people say he can catch a bass in a puddle-LOL Quote
Sweetwater Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Where abouts in south ga are you? The south ga area is loaded with bass. Quote
Bass_Akwards Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 No way to tell by looking. Go fish it. Get some polarized glasses and walk around it too. Quote
tcroot Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Is that part of the Withlacoochee river. If it is there will be some shoal bass, and mud fish in it. Both or fun too catch, just be cautious of the mud fish they have sharp teeth. Quote
bassnbtom Posted April 29, 2010 Author Posted April 29, 2010 yes it is part of the Withlacoochee river. Thank everyone, I'll go see what I can do today. Quote
tcroot Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 I just looked at the pics closer, i know right where that is.Be ready to lose some lures there are alot of branches, and trash under the water there. Quote
bassnbtom Posted April 29, 2010 Author Posted April 29, 2010 :-/ have you ever fished there? I was hoping to walk up stream a little ways to find a more secluded quiet spot Quote
tcroot Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Do you live in hahira ? (not stalking) If you do i can tell you about a few ponds up the road from you. There some very nice bass in these ponds. Just let me know i will give you direction. Quote
bassnbtom Posted April 29, 2010 Author Posted April 29, 2010 haha yes, yes I do, I looked for ALOT of ponds but when I call the city hall they say they are all on private property. If you could help me out, I would really appreciate it. Quote
tcroot Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 :-/ have you ever fished there? I was hoping to walk up stream a little ways to find a more secluded quiet spot I have fished there, Haven't walk very much. If you walk under the bridge, and go that way there is one spot. It's not very far to it. Just be careful of the black mud on the bank. It will throw you down very fast, Don't ask how i know. lol Quote
bassnbtom Posted April 29, 2010 Author Posted April 29, 2010 haha ok I'll keep an eye out. I guess I'll give it a try today, but am all about seeing what ponds you know about. Quote
Super User RoLo Posted April 29, 2010 Super User Posted April 29, 2010 Provided the water is not contaminated (can't tell by looking) and provided it doesn't dry up during a prolonged drought, it's a pretty safe bet that it holds largemouth bass. Roger Quote
crw Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Ok, what road were you near? I fish the Flint River above/below the dam at Albany. In addition, the Kinchafoonee and Muckalee creeks that merge into Lake Chehaw before going into the Flint River above the dam at Albany. From the pictures, I can not tell where the are taken. The Flint and Kinchafoonee have a lot of Large mouth and shoal bass. Below the dam, Spots and shoal bass. In the last 3 month the Flint has been way up with a strong current. The Kinchafoonee has also had a strong current, but in may places it does not seem to have a current from the bank. Give some roads/streets you were near and I can tell you which body of water you were at. Quote

crw Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Close to Hahira is a mater of perspective. Hahira is close to Valdosta, about 70-80 miles south of Albany. The Flint goes to Bainbridge, well west of Valdosta. Hahira is the home of J.D. ,Tim and Stephen Drew, baseball, anyone. Quote
tcroot Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 I'm sorry i wasn't clear. It's not the flint river. It's the Withlacoochee, or atleast the pics he has up. Quote
